Great Read for Listening in the Car
Revisado: 11-08-24
This is a pretty fast-paced book, as are all of Jack Carr's books. One of the things I really appreciate about it is the severance the author has for veterans and for the men and women serving not only in the military but the CIA and other government entities as well. Looking forward to seeing how these turn out on television eventually! Worth the read!

terrible narrator, good book
Revisado: 06-07-21
As others have said, the book is good, but the narrator is tough to listen to. Sounds like a robot at times, doesn't pronounce names the same, and just not very good.

Excellent Book, Series, and Performance!
Revisado: 10-14-18
First off, I absolutely love this series. Mr. Cornwell has crafted a wonderful story with rich, vivid characters. The first two books on Audible were read by Jonathon Keeble, I believe, and he is outstanding - reads like a Saxon and Dane. While some reviewers are critical of the switch, I found Tom Sellwood to be quite pleasant and an excellent performer as well. Different? Yes - but highly effective with the characters and this work. Sometimes when I read or listen to a series, I get tired of it after a few books, but so far, I'm still intrigued with this one.

Historia
On a foggy summer night, 11 people - 10 privileged, one down-on-his-luck painter - depart Martha's Vineyard on a private jet headed for New York. Sixteen minutes later, the unthinkable happens: The plane plunges into the ocean. The only survivors are the painter Scott Burroughs and a four-year-old boy, who is now the last remaining member of an immensely wealthy and powerful media mogul's family. Was it by chance that so many influential people perished? Or was something more sinister at work?

Decent story
Revisado: 07-29-18
I liked the story, but I didn't care for the narration. It was kind of dull and I had a hard time paying attention all of the time because of a lack of inflection all of the time.

Historia
Having found a measure of peace among the dwarves in the reclaimed Mithral Hall, Drizzt begins to know contentment for perhaps the first time in his tumultuous life. But for a dark elf renegade from a city ruled by priestesses of a demon goddess, no peace can long last. The soul of Drizzt Do'Urden.

not the best
Revisado: 06-14-18
75% of the book is a fight. I've gotten tired of the same villains in these stories and would like to see a new challenge. Just not much story here - all battle, little substance. Narrator is wonderful.

Historia
We know the legends: Arthur brought justice to a land that had known only cruelty and force; his father, Uther, carved a kingdom out of the chaos of the fallen Roman Empire; the sword Excalibur, drawn from stone by England's greatest king. But legends do not tell the whole tale. Legends do not tell of the despairing Roman soldiers, abandoned by their empire, faced with the choice of fleeing back to Rome, or struggling to create a last stronghold against the barbarian onslaughts from the north and east.

Good but too much fluff
Revisado: 08-05-17
Would you listen to The Singing Sword again? Why?
Yes - I like the writer and the overall story.
Have you listened to any of Kevin Pariseau’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes - he is excellent! He keeps my attention throughout the novels, even when the text drags a bit. Love his voices!!
Any additional comments?
This book is good, but there are a few hours that drag by and are unnecessary. Also some sex scenes that I'm not interested in - I'm interested in the historical events and the fictional battles. The sex scenes get into more detail than I'd care for.
