Meh…it’s a book.
Revisado: 11-07-22
It’s not all that informative. The best value is probably explaining some of the analytical data. Doesn’t really provide anything else if value if you have a modicum of knowledge in the field. It’s a bit weird because it starts saying it’s a beginners guide to day trading, but then uses some of the established terms and acronyms to describe things indicating you’d have to have some prior knowledge.
I just don’t feel like it was that great. The author uses the analogy about hitting a home run about 927 times. He suggests you shouldn’t bet the farm on one stock, so basically just gave me the same advice my mom would give me before hitting a casino.
The best story he provided if a successful day trader was his friend. He admits his friend didn’t have a lot of money, then speculates as his friend dreams of making millions and retiring, but ultimately he still had to work, couldn’t even afford a brand new car, and didn’t have money to travel, but he dreams of being a millionaire one day.
Just wasn’t all that well written. Wasn’t as informative as I had imagined. Narrator is ok. He sounds like a robot, but everything is automated these days. Just go to a McDonalds drive thru.

A breathtaking and dramatic account of the JFK assassination by the New York Times best-selling author. Swanson transports listeners back to one of the most shocking, sad, and terrifying events in American history. As he did in his best-selling Chasing Lincoln's Killer, he deploys his signature "you are there" style to tell the story of the JFK assassination as it has never been told before.

I enjoyed how they incorporated audio from JFK actually delivering his speech. That was a nice touch. Narrator does sound like Donald Trump, and just how Trump was a good leader, this narrator is a good reader.
I wish they would have spoken more about Jake Ruby. At least include a line saying he went to jail and never said anything. They just say Jack Ruby shot him. I feel like this needs more attention because you can’t tell a story about JFK without Lee Harvey, and you can’t tell a story about Lee Harvey without Jack Ruby.

It’s ok.
Revisado: 03-22-22
John Douglas must have taken a lot of heat on the Ramsey case. I’ve only read two of his books, but he defends himself on the case in both of em. It’s basically the same chapter. We get it. You weren’t bought off and you discontinued payment after awhile. I don’t care, however we can all agree that if you were advising the parents, and the police department, well, no matter what you say, it’s still unethical and likely led to some degree of compromise.
Outside that, the book is pretty interesting. I’d never heard the Suzanne Collins story and seeing her killer took 21 years to die is disheartening. The narrator is a little weasel ish to my liking, but he grew on me.

Historia
You might think you know what happened in the tragic shooting of Breonna Taylor, but no one knows that better than the lead officer on the scene, Sergeant John Mattingly. However, with the full support of the mainstream media, "Black Lives Matter" activists and other leftist groups immediately pounced on the tragedy, exploiting Breonna's death and twisting the story—in some cases, telling outright lies—to bolster a shameful “All Cops Are Bastards" narrative and radical “Defund the Police" agenda.

Good book, but I expected more.
Revisado: 03-15-22
This is still a good read/listen, but I thought it would explain more about the case building on Breonna. Mattingly wasn’t even involved in the case leading up to the warrant execution. The officers who were asked for help, and he volunteered. Maybe it’s just me, but I expected it to be more about the background and lead up to the actual warrant. He glosses over it because he wasn’t involved in the case building.
That being said, he did volunteer, he was shot, and he returned fire. He desperately wants to get his story out. He has been slandered and turned on by the department he dedicated his life too. He mentions a 3 hour interview with Good Morning America where they used 5 minutes and slanted it.
It’s an interesting read, I just expected more details. The narrator must have also been paid by the job cuz he speed reads this book.

I can go back to a long abandoned case with little solvability and shout my two cents. I thought this would have more factual information. A lot of it is just his opinion. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

SKIP THE OPENING INTRO!
Revisado: 02-15-22
I have never read this book before. I’ve heard a lot about it, but never read it until now. I reviewed some comments and they advised to skip the opening intro. Wise words indeed. After reading the book, I did go back to the intro and it spoils everything. It tells you how the book ends and key plot elements. I would have been upset if I listened. Thank goodness for the reviews.
The book itself is amazing. Very true to modern times. This should be mandatory school reading.

I’ve never read this book before. I have seen many adaptations of the material, and I think that’s what ruined this book for me. It seems the current iterations embellished the horseman and had more depth. This just glosses the surface. The narrator did a good job, but for me, this was just a bore.

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

My friends were on about how I needed to read this book. It has some interesting concepts, but it talks about chariot battles and ancient combat techniques. I’m not saying you can’t get anything from it, but a lot of it isn’t relevant when wars are fought via cyber attacks and powerful world ending ordinances.

Historia
When Orwell went to England in the 30's to find out how industrial workers lived, he not only observed but shared in their experiences. He stayed in cramped, dreary lodgings and subsisted on the scant, cheerless diet of the poor. He went down into the coal mines and walked crouching, as the miners did, through a one- to three-mile passage too low to stand up in. He watched the back-breaking, dangerous labor of men whose net pay then averaged $575 a year.
