Historia
On the morning of Saturday, October 7, Amir Tibon and his wife were awakened by mortar rounds exploding near their home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, a progressive Israeli settlement along the Gaza border. Soon, they were holding their two young daughters in the family’s reinforced safe room, urging their children not to cry while they listened to the gunfire from Hamas attackers outside their windows. With his cell phone battery running low, Amir texted his father: “They’re here.”

Fascinating and enlightening
Revisado: 11-05-24
It was so enlightening to hear the first-hand account of the experiences at Nahal Oz and all that was and was not happening on the ground. The history of Nahal Oz and of Hamas’s enrichment by Qatar were fascinating. The role of Israel’s leaders, especially Bibi was unknown to me. I learned a tremendous amount and was fully engaged throughout the book. The author’s narration was excellent.

Historia
Division Street is full of secrets. An impulsive lie begets a secret—one which will forever haunt the Wilf family. And the Shenkmans, who move into the neighborhood many years later, bring secrets of their own.. Spanning fifty kaleidoscopic years, on a street—and in a galaxy—where stars collapse and stories collide, these two families become bound in ways they never could have imagined. Urgent and compassionate, Signal Fires is a magical story for our times, a literary tour de force by a masterful storyteller at the height of her powers.

Beautiful and compelling
Revisado: 11-03-23
There were so many well-developed characters that were beautifully portrayed, and special relationships that touched me deeply. The story was compelling, I couldn’t wait to resume listening every time. So many characters to love, sympathize with and empathize with. I loved the narration. The voice, the timing were absolutely perfect. So much to love in this book.

Enjoyable read
Revisado: 09-26-23
Interesting and enjoyable story. I wish I had read it rather than listened to it, though. Enjoyed the glimpse into La Habana life for the Jewish immigrants. I enjoyed and empathized with the main character, the descriptions of each place.
