Django understood the assignment
Revisado: 02-26-23
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a series that goes this hard into building a complete world with lore and history and mixing it all into incredible settings and high intensity action. Bravo

What Kyle Ren and Rey’s story should’ve been
Revisado: 01-11-23
Super hard Star Wars vibes, without the space travel…but frankly with a much more interesting story.
I’ll have to agree that the narrator kind of takes away from the story telling. It does feel like all the characters are super awkward teens or arrogant adults. I finally got used to it about 2/3 of the way through and it fine after that.

Great start to a new series
Revisado: 12-22-22
I love McClellans world building and this is no exception. Enjoyable characters and interesting new story.
Narration is a little scuffed. The pacing of the read felt a little erratic and some internal dialogue comes off awkward.
Otherwise a great listen

Historia
For all that Jason knows, life is amazing. But he's about to learn that all his new power, wealth, and influence comes at a price. Riding high on success, he and his team are looking to the future, preparing themselves for the challenges to come. Nothing, however, could have prepared him for the lessons his enemies have to teach. When magic is involved, the stakes can be even greater than life and death. While Jason’s personal enemies make plans, the greater foes plaguing his new home have been pushed to the brink.

Absolutely spectacular
Revisado: 09-16-21
Amazing. In a weird round about way, it tickled everything I wanted and needed. The whole series did.
I’ve read some other reviews and feel it’s important to note that this story, in it original form, is a web novel. It’s chapters are released over time and not all at once like a normal book. All the complaints about things being repeated or returned to are important to the function of telling the story in its original form. For listeners it might be repetitive, but for regular readers, the information was last brought up/heard a week, a month, maybe many months ago.
As for the pacing, it does proceed much faster than previous story, but is done so to bring the characters up to a viable status for the overarching story. Jason is the hero of this tale, not some side character. He must grow and change to adapt to the challenge.
It’s a wild ride and I absolutely loved where it ended and where it’s going.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Super Fun. Interesting Magic’s system
Revisado: 08-26-21
I really enjoyed this book. The magic system is developed and interesting, allowing for a cool range of abilities and Magic’s for all the characters the monsters were also interesting. The protagonist is definitely a little OP, but his development as a person is enjoyable and heart felt.
At times, however, it felt like the dialogue was just an exposition dump with witty sarcastic retorts to try to make it livelier. Some things would do better with narrative scene building and explanation instead of just dialogue description. You do get used to this.
There’s plenty of intersecting storylines and character to make the world feel full and lived in, and overall I loved it.
