Historia
In the secluded Dutch territory of Sleepy Hollow, nebbish schoolmaster Ichabod Crane competes with the town hero for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, the 18-year-old daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer. As Crane leaves a party at the Van Tassel's farm one autumn evening, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, an apparition said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper snuffed out by a stray cannonball.

A faithful and fabulous performance
Revisado: 10-18-23
I downloaded this in preparation for a gloomy autumn trip to Westchester, which provided an oppurtunity to stay in Tarrytown and visit Sleepy Hollow. This performance of the original and as far as I can tell unabridged text was artfully done and continues to provide a pleasant way to pass time on long car rides.

Historia
High-powered businesswoman Lana Rubicon has a lot to be proud of: her keen intelligence, impeccable taste, and the L.A. real estate empire she’s built. But when she finds herself trapped 300 miles north of the city, convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter Beth and teenage granddaughter Jack, Lana is stuck counting otters instead of square footage—and hoping that boredom won’t kill her before the cancer does.

A fresh intergenerational look at murder mystery
Revisado: 10-18-23
I didn't expect to like this book nearly as much as I did, but when the characters are so deeply rooted in relatable reality, I think the engagement just flows naturally. Throughout the story, I could see and appreciate the strengths and shortcomings of all 3 of the leads. The whodunit structure also had a natural feeling to it, as each of the suspects presented truly deserved consideration; not a single part of this story felt forced. Overwhelmingly, this book is about strong women. Strong women who make mistakes. Strong women who love fiercely. And more than anything, it is about strong women who grow together despite any and everything that threatens to come between them.

Historia
Who is Donald J. Trump? To truly understand America’s 45th president, argues Vanity Fair journalist Emily Jane Fox, you must know his children, whose own stories provide the key to unlocking what makes him tick. Born Trump is Fox’s dishy, deeply reported, and richly detailed look at Trump’s five children (and equally powerful son-in-law, Jared Kushner), exploring their lives, their roles in the campaign and administration, and their dramatic and often fraught relationships with their father and with one another.

Excellently educational and entertaining

Well-written and performed, this book is a resounding endorsement of the author and an illumination into the private Trump world. I would absolutely read another book from Emily Jane Fox.

Historia
Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Mary-Jane are famous for the same thing, though they never met. What they had in common was the year of their murders: 1888. The person responsible was never identified, but the character created by the press to fill that gap has become far more famous than any of these five women. For more than a century, newspapers have been keen to tell us that "the Ripper" preyed on prostitutes. Not only is this untrue, as historian Hallie Rubenhold has discovered, but it has prevented the real stories of these fascinating women from being told.

An excellent new perspective
Revisado: 04-25-23
The author provides a fresh and compassionate taken on scholarship of the Ripper murders of 1888 by shedding much needed light on the women known largely in "Ripperology" circles as "the canonical five".
