Historia
Kitty Harris has it all: cosily coupled up with boyfriend Archie, she’s putting in the hours at an ad agency to land her dream job. OK, so maybe they’ve become a bit too comfortable in their routine, with pizza night every Thursday, and maybe the agency isn’t so much up-and-coming as been-and-gone, but Kitty is happy. Until one diamond ring sitting pretty in her pepperoni ruins everything. Kitty does NOT want to get married, not after being caught in the crosshairs of her parent’s destructive divorce.

steamy bits
Revisado: 07-21-24
A nice love story. More twists than a pretzel. more drawn out than a bit of taffy. The main characters are interesting. The two tortured souls take us on a ridiculously bumpy roller coaster. I don't have personal experience against which to measure, but it seems to me the honeymoon phase of emotions were unrealistically prolonged. I realize Kitty is deeply scarred, but certainly the hotel scene in the last chapter is one rejection too many.
Overall, the author made me care about the two main characters and I had to read through to the end to find out how she imagined the inevitable union.

Yinka’s Nigerian aunties frequently pray for her delivery from singledom, her work friends think she’s too traditional (she’s saving herself for marriage!), her girlfriends think she needs to get over her ex already, and the men in her life…well, that’s a whole other story. But Yinka herself has always believed that true love will find her when the time is right.

smiles and giggles
Revisado: 07-17-24
A delightfully told story about the sacrifice of virtue, and victory over society-imposed negative self-image. I found it insightful about the pressures put upon skin color as well as the painful pressure to conform to a 'standard ' of beauty in work life as well as personal relationships.

jumble of sound
Revisado: 06-10-24
This is an interesting plot. I had trouble following the story, however. I felt that too much is dependent on sound effects; I couldn't always guess what was going on. I think I needed a narrator to clarify the action and identify characters. An interesting story suggesting that the Supreme Court is not a bastion of integrity, free of political influences

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

worthy of a king
Revisado: 01-19-23
is it true? if this book and the Netflix series are even only 80% free of personal bias, this is a royal tragedy worthy of Shakespeare. Here clearly is a man, forged on the anvil of persecution and betrayal, worthy of kingship in its now antiquated role of defender of the land, its people and honor. Perhaps Prince William could have proven his mettle had he not had the pressure against rebelling of being Heir. we'll never know. But isn't that threat part of his complicity with fierce suppression of his brother? You, brother, must not be perceived as more worthy than I of this crown?
well written, well narrated.

Their mission is to protect the populace and secure the continuation of the United States. The Division is only activated at times of dire need. This just so happens to be one of those times. Based in New York City, Hoskins is forced to leave her civilian life and those she loves behind, and join the front line to try to control the 'dollar flu' virus that has been spreading throughout the city.

this reminds me of radio dramas, before tv. Amazing how well the action is conveyed. The cast were all pros. Eerie story of dystopian virus plague and civilians making their own solution.

Historia
On the first day of her new job, Harris is called to the scene of a brutal murder at the heart of Surrey society. A shocking crime, with a meticulous killer: the victim’s eyes have been removed and the body drained of blood, with no forensic evidence left at the scene. Her boss insists it must be the return of a killer who escaped justice several years ago, leaving a trail of bloody ritualistic killings. Harris isn’t so sure: both sets of victims have had their eyes removed, but other details are significantly different.

better buy book
Revisado: 11-19-21
IMHO this would make more sense on the written page. I find it very difficult to keep track of all the names. The plot is very busy. it seems there are two crimes going on at once, two plot lines. I have trouble sorting out the characters.
The reader's voice does not change during some dialogs so that sometimes I'm not sure who is saying what. I chuckle when I hear a high pitched voice speaking, only to hear that it is a male police officer speaking..
overall, I am not enjoying this audiobook.

unsatisfactory ending
Revisado: 10-18-21
As a psychological thriller, not my favorite genre, I guess you have to be patient as the story unfolds. But the ending was contrived and amateurish. I did not feel that it wrapped things up. she leads you to think she did a horrible thing. she does not explain why that guy came to pick up her son. I will give away any more spoilers, but it just didn't make sense.
