Historia
Steve Almond doesn't just love candy, he unabashedly worships every aspect of confectionary culture, from the creation of an exceptional malt ball through the tragic demise of a badly conceived candy bar, from the emotion-laden memories stirred by a bite of chocolate to his near-drooling anticipation of spotting a new package on the candy shelves.

Not for dieters
Revisado: 04-06-06
This book is very enjoyable, and has changed the way I look at candy. Prepare to be involved in this book, because it is more than a listen. I ended up driving an hour to find a Valomilk after listening to the chapter on them. I'm saving up to buy a case of Five Star Bars.
After listening to candyfreak, I find myself in candy aisles, letting my eyes feast in the variety, searching out any candy I haven't tried before.
I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

Makes you think
Revisado: 04-06-06
I loved this book, both the story and narration. Scott Brick is a very relaxed reader, and doesn't try too hard to pull off voices.
I can understand why some would be offended by this book, and as a Christian there were some statements about religious people in general that bothered me. However, this book made me think, and is clearly not about mainstream mormons, but rather fundamentalists. The author isn't even "against" only mormon fundamentalists, but fundamentalists of all kinds.
This is well worth a listen

Not Just For Geeks
Revisado: 04-06-06
I loved this book. The author does an excellent job of describing the inherent problems with search technology, and describes in just enough detail the history behind search development. If you enjoy learning what is behind the stuff you use every day, you will enjoy this book. I have found myself discussing this book with many friends over the past few weeks.
If you use the internet at all (and if you are using audible, I'd say that's a safe bet), you will love The Search.

Historia
Late one night, exploring her father's library, a young woman finds an ancient book and a cache of yellowing letters. The letters are all addressed to "My dear and unfortunate successor", and they plunge her into a world she never dreamed of: a labyrinth where the secrets of her father's past and her mother's mysterious fate connect to an inconceivable evil hidden in the depths of history.

Slowest Book I Ever Finished
Revisado: 04-06-06
I don't mind history, and I don't mind 26 hour long books. This, however, is the slowest book that I have ever actually finished. This is NOT a book about Vampires, or Dracula - heck, it's barely about its own plot. It is a book about how great libraries are. If you are fond of old, musty books, this is a must-read for you. If you prefer a gripping story, give this one a pass.
I'd like someone else to take a stab at writing this story, because it could have been so good.
