Historia
Kate McGuire’s life was sweet in Manhattan before she lost her restaurant job and fiancé both. But sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, and soon she finds herself starting from scratch in the island town of Coral Cay, Florida. It has everything she’s looking for: sunny beaches, friendly locals, and a Help Wanted sign in the bakery shop window. Once she convinces the shop’s crusty owner Sam Hepplewhite to hire her, Kate can’t tie on her apron fast enough. Little does she know that trouble, like warm dough, is on the rise.

Delicious Thriller
Revisado: 01-28-23
The story by itself can stand alone, but Christa Lewis's performance was the icing on the cake...or cookie. She clearly brings to life the unique characters in all their vocal personality traits. She whips up a delectable tale of a small town murder mystery and serves it to her listeners full of flavors. You seriously do NOT want to miss this treat. Warning...if you are on a diet...you will be tempted to reach for your favorite cookie by the time you finish listening.

Compelling To The End
Revisado: 05-22-21
The Nowhere Man, part of the Orphan X Series, continues to deliver a riveting storyline that seamlessly picks up from the last book. The plot twists and turns and you follow right along with it. Although the writing can stand on its own, the narrator Scott Brick brings a whole new level to it. Scott Brick IS the Nowhere Man and any other character he voices. He is a Master storyteller who knows how to build a story's suspense, and reveal the emotional layers of each character. If you enjoyed the previous book, you will LOVE this one!

Historia
Mindfulness is not about complicated and otherworldly woo-woo spiritual practices. It doesn't require you to be a part of any religion or a movement. What mindfulness is about is living a good life (that's quite practical, right?), and this book is all about deepening your awareness, getting to know yourself, and developing attitudes and mental habits that will make you not only a successful and effective person in life, but a happy and wise one as well.

Hearty Serving
Revisado: 08-14-17
First I should state that I was given a free credit to this book in exchange of my honest review. The "free" part does not influence my taste, especially when I truly find the material to be interesting and the narrator, Randy Streu, to be engaging. I selected this title out of a personal pursuit to find more balance in my life. Like many others, I wear many hats and can easily be derailed when thongs don't go as planned. I wanted to learn how to be more accepting and not allow the inconveniences of life, or the problems that occur, to throw me off my path of having a successful career, and great relationships with family and keeping my faith strong. With these desires in the background of my mind, I listened intently to the audiobook. The narrator's vocal delivery immediately set me at ease by capturing the drive, energy, and humor of the author's words. I was able to focus on the message and not get distracted by the delivery. Although the book could be heard in one sitting as it is not very long, it is best to listen in chunks, so you can take time to process the advice, insight, and suggestions he offers. I was particularly grateful for how he made meditation a very doable activity. I was never drawn to it, but after hearing his explanation, benefits and suggestions on how to do it, I'm going to begin adding that to my daily To Be list which has grown shorter than the To Do list, and needs a major make over. He also covers a section on handling adversity, which is a great tool to have in todays complex and challenging world.

Life changing read.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Letting It Go?
The application of the techniques.
What does Melinda Wade bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Articulate, clear, and gives meaning to the text.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, because there is much to absorb in terms of the techniques.
Any additional comments?
I was given this book as a gift for my honest review. It helped open up some new ways to view how I have personally locked certain energy in places that need to be set free so I can use that energy for more positive things in my life. Need to listen to it several times to learn the process, but it isn't really difficult to grasp.

Captivating from the Start
Revisado: 11-01-16
Would you listen to Hands Across the Sky again? Why?
A sumptuous exotic tale of adventure and sacrifice. Filled with rich imagery to arouse your senses. Although the story is set in modern day, you feel as though you have been transported to another time. Collene Curran performs her narration with a delicate touch. Her characters are well defined, and her narrator weaves their tales with fine threads of multiple colors and tones. You are drawn immediately into the story from the start and want to simply listen and follow the life changing journey of Ezra Quinn.I was given a free copy of this audiobook in return for my honest review. However, I picked it out of the many titles offered to me because I immediately felt a connection when I heard Collene Curran's voice. I was not disappointed.
What other book might you compare Hands Across the Sky to and why?
The Kite Runner...in terms of the underlying tension that the middle east struggles with.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Leila prepared the coffee for him.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, I felt a deep compassion and empathy for the struggles the characters experienced.
Any additional comments?
I will be looking for more audiobooks narrated by Collene Curran. She has a very unique style.
