Good series, new narrator not so good
Revisado: 11-29-24
I’ve been enjoying this series, but I really don’t enjoy when they change narrators in the middle of a series. This one grates on me and I’m struggling identifying the characters by voice. So disappointing. The story and writing are as good as the rest of the series, just struggling with the audio.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
Revisado: 06-20-24
I’m a fan of both AE Radley and Claire Storey, so this was a no brainer. I have also been craving cozy mysteries with lesbian or bi women leads. This was perfect.
The characters are hard not to like. The mystery kept me guessing. The writing was done well and the narration was awesome. I’m really hoping there is a series here!

I didn’t love it
Revisado: 10-20-23
I’m a huge Lise Gold fan, but I had a hard time getting through this one. I suspect it was the narrator. I just couldn’t get past her. I think it would have been a better read than listen. Unfortunately, sometimes the narration kills it.

Revisado: 10-18-23
Melissa Brayden is gifted, no doubt. I just can’t get enough of the Lavenders! I didn’t want this to end and had the same experience with the first book; The Last Lavender Sister, which I’ve listened to more than once. Can’t say enough good. Thanks for another fantastic experience.

I hope there’s more to come because I feel invested in Millie and Charlotte. I Clare Ashton has a way of pulling one into her stories as if actually living and being apart of another world. Can’t say enough good about this one.

New Author for me: Recommend
Revisado: 09-05-23
I really enjoyed this book. It’s not a new trope, but the spin was different enough that it was refreshing. There wasn’t so much drama that an anxiety attack was triggered! I found the writing to be very good and Lula Larkin does an excellent job voicing the characters and mood of the story. I could have kept listening for days!

Historia
Born and raised in St. Claire, Lindsay Juneau's life was seemingly full raising a six-year-old daughter and caring for her widowed mother. Of course, things aren't always what they seem, and the newest resident of St. Claire isn't buying the ruse. Veterinarian Nicole Allen is looking for something different. She finds it in St. Claire with its hypochondriac rabbits, shotgun-toting shut-ins, and eclectic mix of people. The most alluring, though, is a woman who's also looking for something different.

Robin Alexander Doesn’t Disappoint
Revisado: 04-20-23
With very little exception, Robin Alexander is a home run storyteller. I really liked this book, with a teeny exception. I found the ending somewhat abrupt. I would still recommend this book without hesitation. Lots of humor, steam, and feels. Never over the top. I appreciate that about this author.
Lori Price does a good job, too.

Revisado: 04-16-23
Love this series. I hope there are more coming soon!! I almost forgot how much I like this genre. Thanks for the reminder.
I couldn’t stop listening to this book. I loved most everything about it. The worlds are painted so vividly to me. I could be watching a movie. I even dreamt about it which is not something I ever do! I guess I was invested in the story, and still am! Keep them coming. And PLEASE, Elizabeth Saydah, continue narrating!!!

Historia
A war is brewing in the Empire. Not the War in the East - that is a war everyone already knows about, the war that some wanted to end so badly that they murdered an Emperor to stop it. No, this is a different war. A war between the Shadowlands and the mortal world, a war between light and darkness. A war the Brotherhood of Culo has warned about for generations. But no one wanted to listen. And as war brews, an Empress in exile struggles to regain her crown, and the warrior sworn to protect that Empress fights to make it back to her.

I don’t understand the bad reviews…
Revisado: 04-12-23
Though there are very few poor reviews, I just don’t get it. I love the way Eliza Andrews is building the layers of this tale. I did not find book 1 to be written in a juvenile way. I found all of book 1 necessary and also thought it built gradually at a perfect pace, considering this is a series of chronicles! Maybe the reviewers would feel differently had they finished the book. I may need to update my review of Princess of Dorsa.
Book 2! I love the continuation. I found the “annoying” flashbacks to be relevant, essential, and informative. I guess this style of storytelling isn’t for everyone.
I love fantasy and action. And this has it! Do I like violence and racism and slavery? No. Do I find these elements add context to this story. Absolutely. Also, usually always a metric of this genre. Like sex is usually part of the romance genre. I can understand if something is not to someone’s taste, but that doesn’t equate to poor writing or illustration.
I can’t wait to sink into book 3! Eliza Andrews, don’t stop your magic! And Elizabeth Saydah PLEASE continue your brilliant narration!
