Great mystery and narrator
Revisado: 04-11-25
Nicki Thorton’s middle school mystery, which has very many elements of truth and narrative, is a must read for people who are good at heart but believe they’re unlucky or the cause of others’ bad behavior . Chris Devon is an A+ narrator.

Good tale for the days of now
Revisado: 04-08-25
Besides being an excellent and well-written read and narration, this simple tale helps remember we all have gifts that can make a difference. That people’s bullying ways mask a need for love and understanding.

Grounded advice in turbulent times
Revisado: 03-04-25
After having a dream while traveling in New Mexico, I started reading Shirley MacLaine’s books once again. Actually, it was Shirley’s reading the book to my husband and I. We find her point of view, refreshing and honest. If only this way of reporting could be at the top levels today, we would be a much better people.

Spend time listening to Leonard Nimoy and his ‘twin’ Spock
Revisado: 02-26-25
Love that Leonard Nimoy and his character Spock share points of view in this well narrated tale. I learned inside perspectives of behind the scenes views of the Star Trek set. Fascinating!

Truth of this book is welcome
Revisado: 02-06-25
We have listened to a number of Shirley’s books ever since I dreamed we should revisit them. Her words ring true and her recommended reading is right in. Saging is my new favorite of hers, and I just sent the book to my sister.

From the green countryside of England and the gray canyons of Wall Street come two unlikely heroes: one a pigeon and the other a soldier. Answering the call to serve in the war to end all wars, neither Cher Ami, the messenger bird, nor Charles Whittlesey, the army officer, can anticipate how their lives will briefly intersect in a chaotic battle in the forests of France, where their wills will be tested, their fates will be shaped, and their lives will emerge forever altered.

Important story to read about war
Revisado: 07-20-23
This is an important book to read, as we are engaged in a war, now in the world, with no knowledge of where it is going to head. This is one of the best stories detailing what it’s like to actually be the war that I have ever read. I especially like the Back-and-forth between Sheramy and major Whittlesey.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

One of my favorite reads
Revisado: 10-03-22
While he is popular, Stephen King‘s horror stories are usually too scary for me to read. With Fairy Tale, however King weaves an homage to many of our favorite movies and fairytales and carries along a suspenseful and deep dive into a story I never wanted to end. I was even able to write a story for my blog while listening to this story. The words were so inspiring that they made my own writing better. I highly recommend this book as a remedy for those of us who have felt that magic is disappearing from our lives.

The world would be better, if everyone read this book
Revisado: 08-26-21
In my mind, Louise Penny‘s stories just get better and better. The Madness of Crowds speaks to our most secret fears, how we project those fears on to others, how we can be fooled by misinformation, and the ultimate coming back together for love, are the main themes. If we could only absorb these values and live them, we would be able to get past these tipping points that we are continually experiencing. Brava, Louise!
