This is the type of story that works perfectly on audio. The format is a mix of interviews, journal entries and reports, so you feel you're really listening to the recordings. The narrators are wonderful and bring the story to life. The book is entertaining and I flew through it in just a few days eager to pick up the next installment.

I went into this book a bit sceptical, I wasn't quite sure if the humor would be to my liking, but I was plesantly surprised by this imaginative and amusing novel. The premises of the story is quite interesting and the plot original. Its a light read, a bit silly at times, some parts a bit juvenile, but overall an entertaining story!

I love the idea behind the book, the storyline is unique and keep your surprised and engaged at every turn. Its basically a story about the love for and power of books, which makes it an fun book for avid readers.

I enjoyed the book, but in the end I didn't feel inclined to continue the series. What I mostly liked was the idea behind the book, and the storyline to some degree, but I didnt become very attached to the characters and cant say I care much what happens to them further on. I didn't like Lena at all, Isaac was alright, but like I said, I didn't get emotionally attached to them. (Smudge was my favorite character by far)

I'm not sure if I'll finish the series at some later point, but right now I don't have any plans of continuing.

After having read 14 I was really excited to see Peter Clines releasing a new book in the same universe. "14" was one of those unique stories where the mystery really drew me in and kept surpising me with at every turn. My experience with "The Fold" was probably colored by my expectations coming from "14", and I kept comparing the books. I could anticipate a lot of the main storyline, so it took away from the experience of uncovering the mystery, which I had so enjoyed when reading 14. The fact that I kept comparing the book with 14 (and have throughout the review) was probably not the best idea, so I'll try to write the rest of the review based on only The Fold.

I enjoyed the characters and found them believable, even if Mike isn't terribly original. I feel I have seen characters like him a lot of times before; A brilliant skilled guy hides from his talent by taking a (for a lack of a better word) menial job (though in this case its not a meanial job, he's a teacher, but he's just not living up to his potential), but reluctantly gets brought in because they require his specific skillset. Despite this I dont think he becomes a cliche, and I enjoyed his characterization and especially the insight into what its like to be inside his mind. As I indicated earlier, the story is a great mystery, gradually being unveiled, with interesting twists and turns that keep you engaged, though slightly unsurprising if you have read 14.

Ray Porter also does a great job as the narrator, the first audiobook I ever listened to (14) was by him, and he was the one that convinced me audiobooks is something for me.

To sum up, I really enjoyed the book, and I'd happily read more about this universe!

I definitely recommend everyone to read/listen to this book, and I enjoyed listening to the book and the story is engaging, but it bears the marks of a mid-installment setting the scene for the series finale. The book goes deeper into the background of unwinding and the conflict, exploring more points of views and connects several storylines. Though the core protagonists are still the backbone of the story multiple POVs are brought in. The different POVs allows you to have insight into different perspectives on the situation and events that unfolds and keeps the story engaging.

One point that became somewhat of a pet peeve for me was the constant interconectedness between all of the characters. This tendency started to be apparent in UnWholly, and developed into slightly ridiculous proportions in UnSouled. While the relationships adds more layers to the story and I enjoyed seeing the intersections between the storylines, I feel this at some points made the story unbelievable.

This is definitely my least favorite book in the series, there isn't terribly much happening in terms of the story, as I said earlier, its main role seems to be laying the groundwork for the forth and final book.

I really liked Luke Daniels as the narrator, he did a good job bringing the characters to life and really added to the story.
