Historia
When the body of a young woman is found near the ruins of a haunted abbey, everyone assumes she died of fright. A postmortem examination tells a different story. Not only was Elizabeth Barrett poisoned, but the lethal dose of cyanide must have been administered by someone close to her - someone she trusted, who may have known her secret. As Captain Redmond and Constable Haze delve into the victim's seemingly ordinary life, they learn she wasn't the proper, biddable wife everyone believed her to be.

Good story, so so narration.

The plot was good, although it was obvious from the beginning who the murderer was. The narrator did a good job with the exception of the American accent. Worth a credit.

Disturbing
Revisado: 08-19-24
This was not a comfortable read, to say the least. Regardless of the end, the story was very disturbing. Well written and well performed, but not for the faint of heart.

This held my interest and I enjoyed it very much. I hope the authors will someday write about Pendergast’s childhood in some detail. That would be fascinating.

On My Way To Being A Big Fan of Laetitia Rodd
- De Lucy en 06-13-20
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Revisado: 11-14-22
This book was a delight to listen to. The storyline, the well-developed characters, plot twists, and, of course, the narration were all well thought out and well executed. The narrator in particular made the whole experience both soothing and mysterious at the same time. I’ve listened twice and will do so again many times more. I hope there are many more cases involving Laetitia Rodd, but they absolutely must be read by Anna Bentinc. I tried hard to listen to one read by a different narrator and couldn’t get past the first chapter.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Secrets of Wishtide from beginning to end. The narrator was lovely, the story interesting, but a lot of it was I very much liked the main character. I look forward to re-listening in the not to distant future. This has to be one of my all time favorites.

Wrong narrator.
Revisado: 06-16-22
This is one of my all time favorite novels and I was so excited to find it in an audio version. However, the narrator was a very bad choice to read this particular book. I’m sure Mr. Guidall is great for other books, but he fails to differentiate the characters or infuse the story with the tension and excitement the author did. It’s like he does get that it’s a complicated mystery. I’m sorry, but the narration ruined it for us.

I really wanted to like this as much I did The Watcher and Lightening, but although it was okay, it felt incomplete and left me with many unanswered questions. Maybe Mr. Koontz was in a tremendous hurry when he wrote this. Let’s go with that. He’s a great author usually. :)

Revisado: 09-26-20
I’m sure Mr. Ballerini is a good narrator, but he does not do this particular book the justice it deserves. There is plenty of suspense in the book, but none of it comes through the narration and the characters all blend together.
