Historia
From the moment Lucy met her husband's mother, Diana, she was kept at arm's length. Diana was exquisitely polite and properly friendly, but Lucy knew she was not what Diana envisioned. That was five years ago. Now, Diana is dead, a suicide note found near her body. Diana claims she no longer wanted to live because of a battle with cancer. But the autopsy finds no cancer. The autopsy does find traces of poison and evidence of suffocation.

missed the mark
Revisado: 05-04-20
I’m really not sure the purpose of this book. every time the author would dabble in a serious issue it would be solved with a little story or lesson instead of digging deep. It would get you thinking about a serious topic and then put a little bow on it and pivot to the next. it felt like a YA novel but with “adult” topics, and most YAs don’t have a MIL. I felt like I was listening to an installment of the “clue” movie, murder mystery but not in a suspenseful thriller way, more like a fake, character ha-ha dinner party way. I don’t know how this is rated so highly.

This book is life changing. Perfect balance of using real life examples and the “science” behind them. I highly recommend this book.

Good concepts but was really hard to follow at times. Reading the paper copy might have been a better choice. I have it at home, and will have to skim through and make notes to really grasp the concepts. The performance was great, language was just hard to follow when listening in the car.

Great book

The story was amazing and kept you guessing the whole way through. I had an inkling that it would end the way that it did but there were still plot twist that surprise me. I liked how the narrators were each performed by different people however sometimes the reading made a very serious story sounds a bit lighthearted.

In the tradition of New York Times best sellers What Remains by Carole Radziwill and Oh the Glory of It All by Sean Wilsey, Christina McDowell's unflinching memoir is a brutally honest, cautionary tale about one family's destruction in the wake of the Wall Street implosion.

Terrible narration

The performance was terrible. Monotone, boring and ruined the story for me. The content and material are great if you can get past the horrible narrative.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Great Book
Revisado: 06-01-15
I loved this book! Cheryl writes in such a relatable way and uses the best descriptions and analogies to make sure the reader is fully aware of the situations she finds herself in. It's an I spring story to say the least. Only criticism is on the performance, I could not get used to the narrator. She sounded way to old to be ready this life pilgrimage story of a girl in her 20s. This narrator sounds older than Cheryl is now! I felt as if it was a grandma reading a campfire story as opposed to a girl in her 20s going through these experiences or even a woman in her 40s (as Cheryl is now) telling her own story. It made some parts sound very weird to say the least. Other than that, everything was wonderful!
