This book has a sensibility and feel that is uncommon to Western novels. I really enjoyed listening to the story and the narrator.

Worth listening to again and again

I really like this book. Contrary to Audible’s categorization, I wouldn’t call it either Paranormal or Urban. It is a clever story, well written, with excellent narration … and it also happens to have a bit of magic. Recommended really for anyone (except for those who crave action and mystery, then no).

Try this author again

I read this author’s first novel that is available on audible, but felt lukewarm about it. This book, on the other hand, is a solid 4 stars. I have listened to it a few times (between other selections) and like it more each time. Insight into Indian way of life, well imagined and constructed characters. Recommended.

First, you can’t go wrong with any book performed by Barbara Rosenblat. This book is charming and quirky, and a pleasure to listen to. Audible ... please arrange for the sequel!

Disappointing

Although the first book in the series was excellent, the sequels leave much to be desired. I do not recommend this one.

Very interesting and inspiring part of our history

Before reading this book I knew virtually nothing about the subject matter. It was a very interesting read from that perspective, and well written. Recommended!

Great narration, average story

First, please don’t compare this book to The Help, since they are in different leagues. In my opinion, the storyline and writing were for a younger audience, and, since I am hardly part of that group, I thought this was an average listen. The narration kept me listening, and so I tip my hat to those ladies. 3 stars.

An engaging read, set in Minn.

I’m a New Yorker, and it took me several chapters to take to the narrator. Once acclimated, though, I really enjoyed this book, and will give it another listen for sure.

Another fun read by Jeffrey Archer
