Let me first start of by saying that Nana Mensah was excellent but paired jarringly with Raul. Story concept was good but directing leaves much to be desired; meandering. Would have been much better if edited down by 15min.

The mother is a gem!

The story was borderline boring and saved by the fantastic 'voice performance' of the mother. She is such a character. As stories go, these dramas happen all the time and nothing really spectacular. Danny could have done a better job in weaving the story together.

What would have made The Icarus Deception better?
Could have significantly condensed the key points, and supported it with more empirical and cross-sectional references. Too many self-derived conclusions, and the author was particularly hung up about the term "artiste".
The author's reading came across as 'preachy'; could have used a more enlivened reader.
Has The Icarus Deception turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It had interesting ideas that could be further unpacked in a more objective manner. As it stands, the book became a personal pulpit for the author.

Detailed and comprehensive account of the rise and fall of the Mongol empire. This book ranks in the top 5 of the audio books I've listened so far.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The principal character - Genghis Khan - was my favourite. How a troubled young boy overcame incredible odds to shape his own destiny as the ruler of the largest empire in history.
What about Jonathan Davis and Jack Weatherford ’s performance did you like?
Jonathan Davis did an excellent job in narrating the story.
