Historia
Cat Bohannon answers questions scientists should have been addressing for decades. With boundless curiosity and sharp wit, she covers the past 200 million years to explain the specific science behind the development of the female sex. Eve is not only a sweeping revision of human history, it's an urgent and necessary corrective for a world that has focused primarily on the male body for far too long. Bohannon's findings will completely change what you think you know about evolution.

Interesting and simultaneously bias!
Revisado: 11-13-24
This was a very interesting read, especially exploring the many aspects of sexism that exist. However, I do feel this book reinforces cultural biases of the Western world hidden under the mantle of, “research shows…”, without thoroughly investigating why. Simultaneously, the author went into great details about aspects of the animal kingdom to compare human evolution & behaviour.
Still an enjoyable performance from Cat Bohannon.

Revisado: 05-28-24
What a lovely story. Very well written with enough description to visualise the scenes. The narrator’s dulcet tone and flow carried the story along with ease. Don’t hesitate to listen to this book, it’s very good historically with an important message.

As one of the most celebrated musicians of our time, Alicia Keys has enraptured the nation with her heartfelt lyrics, extraordinary vocal range and soul-stirring piano compositions. Yet away from the spotlight, Alicia has grappled with private heartache over the challenging and complex relationship with her father, the people-pleasing nature that characterised her early career, the loss of privacy surrounding her romantic relationships and the oppressive expectations of female perfection.

One of the Best!!!!!
Revisado: 05-09-20
This has truly been the most enjoyable book I’ve listened to in a long time.
Alicia’s honesty and humility draws you into her world. Her recollections are phenomenally captivating peppered with unexpected accapella performances to illustrate her point,. Not to mention each chapter separated by her soothing sounds on the piano and short cameo appearances from a significant person who has touched her life. What a beautiful read and a wonderful experience (as opposed to just reading the words on the page). I would highly recommend this book. I’ll definitely re-listen over again. Thank you for sharing yourself Alicia.

Historia
In this luminous memoir, a true American icon looks back on his celebrated life and career. His body of work is arguably the most morally significant in cinematic history, and the power and influence of that work are indicative of the character of the man behind the many storied roles. Sidney Poitier here explores these elements of character and personal values to take his own measure: as a man, as a husband and a father, and as an actor.

Historia
In Thrive, Arianna Huffington, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post and one of the most influential women in the world, has written a passionate call to arms, looking to redefine what it means to be successful in today’s world. She likens our drive for money and power to two legs of a three-legged stool. It may hold us up temporarily, but sooner or later we’re going to topple over. We need a third leg – a Third Metric for defining success – in order to live a healthy, productive, and meaningful life.

Too much stats not enough personality!
Revisado: 02-05-19
The concept of this book is great. It began well but soon became apparent there were too many references to statistics of previous studies, which I didn’t care to know about. I was interested in what formula worked for a successful woman such as Arianna. I got what I wanted but the extra stats were unnecessary and spoilt the enjoyment of what could have been a great read/listen.

You’ve heard of an Essex Girl or even a Chelsea Girl, but what about a Hounslow Girl? Definition of a Hounslow Girl: a young Muslim woman who wears hooped earrings with her headscarf and grapples with traditional values while hustling her way through urban London. The Diary of a Hounslow Girl is a bold and provocative one-person play, written and performed by Ambreen Razia. From the joys of traditional Pakistani weddings to fights on the night bus, this is a comic story of dreams, aspirations and coming of age, told through the eyes of a 16-year-old British Muslim girl.

Not so satisfying!
Revisado: 12-19-18
The performance was well done, however the story didn’t seem to go anywhere. I listened with anticipation but was never forfilled. I’m quite glad this was a short book Ambreen’s heavy breathing was too much to bear. Nice attempt but didn’t live up to much!
