Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

A relaxing story to listen to, no excitement .
Revisado: 01-01-23
I liked it, a quiet Tale of a community on the Pacific Northwest coast. The ocean is always present just out the window or the back door. Experiences unfold without stress or hurry. It's all well described and well ballanced. the only thing over the top was the uncommonly able mind of a great 50 lb octopus. The octopus serves as an insight giver to give rescue where It's needèd.
An aside.
I have a fascination with these big brained 🧠 cephalopods. what an effective companion they would be aiding Humanity or they but to live long enough to fully develop that mental potential sitting in the center of eight incredibly functional legs. were they gifted with a 20 plus year lifespan; 🤔 what marvelous helpmates an octopus Community would become.

Historia
Christmas is coming and Marty and his rescued pup, Shiloh, are sure glad about that - for their town is low on love and understanding, and they hope that the joy of the holiday will bring with it the generosity of spirit that's so lacking. It's been a year since Marty Preston rescued Shiloh from Judd Travers and his cruel ways, and since then, Marty and Shiloh have been inseparable. Anywhere Marty goes, the beagle's at his side, and Marty couldn't be happier about that. Even Judd has been working to improve his reputation.

Revisado: 12-18-22
It was in the Ouachita mountains in Eastern Oklahoma, and tears of gratitude to an old man's eyes. for these memories of a Christmas with three generations of the family I thank you for the Memories.
following Marty's Adventures through the three previous stories was balanced and elegant, beautiful in its simplicity. I felt like I was following a well-loved ballad or epic poem.
-->. My advice: Slow the speed to 85%,
and listen to a bedtime story with the first story. Then two more ending with "Christmas."
I listened until I grew drowsy, then set my auto-off; 30 minutes was all I could last before sleeping.
Even better than "Old Yeller."

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

BeginningWhen It Hit Paperback I read Ender's 4x.
Revisado: 11-14-22
Then smartphones and Audible came into my world. Since then, I have read the story "Enders Game" to both of my Grandsons. I've just listened to Audible for the third time. Why do I like it so? The story is good enough, but the sequences in Ender's mind capture me like an addiction; once reading or listening, I can't stop even for food; Enders's experiences own me. What the characters feel, I feel. In the evenings, I can't stop listening but fade into sleep while listening, then tracking the story back to my last remembering in the morning.
Ender's Game is but one of Mr. Card's novels that can completely own my attention. If it's not the best, it's among them.
If asked, I'd pay for friends to purchase the book or Audible listen.,

🙄 A straightforward Earth located Science Fiction story.. A life adventure of a human teen who thinks, & acts as a maturing youth will; you'll like him, cheer for him.. A good listen while driving, washing dishes, and thelike, it's easy to follow while filling the mind doing mindless mussle memory tasks.
The good guys truely are, and the villains are truly vile. This is not a literary masterpiece,, but moves along nicely. I enjoyed how each chapter increased in what it had to offer, always building.
Yes, there were things that weren't thought out , like which way will a door open off a hallway, and the like, truely I'm thinking you will want to continue listening to the stories that follow this one. - live long and prosper fellow mortal...

Balanced story telling.
Revisado: 05-31-22
A well grounded novel, the charictors aren't deep, but the action is up there. The unseen " firsts" are true boogymen alians of the first water. The natives of the world humans want to settle have been crushed into two types. The brain slaves to "the first," and scattered tribes of resisters on the woods.
how, when, where will the Earth humans fit in here?

its possable Jonathan intends this to be sharing of his sequence of ideas that will be built into a story in future segments, but there is nothing here to enjoy for me. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered "The New Moon," shame on me. The writer's failings go deeper than this, but what's the point.

Historia
In times of great pain and upheaval, people's minds turn to "the end of the world." According to author Gregg Braden, this is one of those historical moments - a period of change and turmoil that summons intense anxiety and causes us to wonder if we are approaching the culmination of human history. And yet, many cultures both ancient and contemporary believe that there is no such thing as an end time - that in fact, history doesn't move in a straight line toward a single destination, but in a series of ever-more-complicated fractal cycles.

Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.
