Hard to get into it as a romance when she made him sound so flamboyant. Literally at the halfway point I was like HE’S the love interest??? But she’s such a hilarious author so I still loved it.

Amazing series and incredible narrator. The stories are well written and I think I would love them either way, but I’ve listened to hundreds of Audible books and she is 100 percent the best one I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. I’m completely enthralled while she’s reading and stay focused like no other series. Highly recommend.

Such a great and humorous read to listen to while driving or just doing stuff around the house. Obviously not a deep book, but I think you still get something out of it when they bring up some vulnerable aspects of their life, masking it with humor of course. Great listen, loved it and love them.

Loved every second of this! Hilarious and engaging and the narrator was able to capture the culture exquisitely. Great character and story development through this light hearted romance, while still bringing up difficult issues anyone can relate to. Great book. Great narrator. Great read :)

I loved this book when I first read it about ten years ago, and I thought it might have just been my age, but I loved it now as well. I really wish the second was on audible as well, but I don’t believe the author ever finished the third book anyway, which is such a shame. These books are great, and the narrator did an awesome job separating voices while not making them unbearable to listen to.

Very well written with an exceptional romance that slow burns back and forth while not being aggravating to listen to. If you like a wholesome, feel-good story with great sexual tension and character development, then this is the book for you!

If you took Twilight and Harry Potter and combined them, you’d have this series. Very few original ideas, just new names to games like quidditch or the triwizard tournament. The descriptions of some scenes are soooooo long it’s unnecessary as well. The author literally takes three or four chapters just detailing the same minor adventure the characters are on, which could have been greatly down scaled.

I also hate when people throw random characters in just to kill them off without ever developing that character fully, but relying on an attachment through someone else to make you feel bad for them. It just always feels weird and like an after thought. The narrator is okay, her voice kinda drives me crazy cause it’s so high pitched and fake sounding, but at least she tries. When the male narrator switched to Hudson’s voice, I almost turned it off because I was laughing too much at how awful it was. It was like a homeless English child moved to New York to work as a newsie and it was unbearable and totally against Hudson’s “bad boy” image the author tried to portray.

The whole book was spent changing Jackson’s (Jaxon?) personality into a completely different person to fit Hudson in and Flint was thrown aside and shoved into the gay best friend mold instead. All of this book seemed like it lacked any real thought and felt like the author did well on the first one so she just slapped something together to try and squeeze a trilogy out of it.

Although the characters are in high school, which is a little strange because they are so mature, I got past that because it’s needed for the deeper changes to take place within the main characters. Honestly hard to summarize anything without giving it away, but just a very thought out plot, with full character development eventually formed with each main player, even though it might take some time to discover. Just a great book with great narration and a 10/10 for a nice feel-good romance with enough weight to make you think.

It may be just me, but the entire story falls apart in the first few chapters when Killian gets soooo triggered *eyeroll* at Cila for calling him a glorified rapist and then proceeds to literally rape her the following evening. The author then tries to get around this by saying her body was betraying her because it was turned on, but that actually happens commonly with rape victims because they can’t control their physical reactions. I found it disturbing, to say the least.

Then the author continually makes Cila act like she doesn’t hate Killian? It’s just weird and poorly developed, with random segments of the author realizing this flaw, then lazily trying to write their feelings in as an after thought with nothing substantial to back their feelings up. The sex scenes are frequent and quite detailed and it’s almost like the book starts relying on them to fill in for the lack of story.

Also, big on humiliation and shaming for a while. Very uncomfortable and downright hard to listen to in some scenes, and then (again) the author acts like it’s no big deal and Cila just forgets. I’m not sure why people rate this so highly and act like it’s just a semi-dark romance of a bad boy, damaged girl. It’s not. And it needs like 1000 trigger warnings as well, to include suicide, child abuse (domestic, sexual, and incestuous), humiliation/shame p*rnographic scenes, kidnapping, drug abuse, “dom” behavior that’s actually just domestic violence, Stockholm syndrome, etc.

I have slight OCD with having to finish a book before leaving a review, especially with ones I don’t like, but I really wish I just hadn’t.

I think the story of this was a really cool idea and the book was mostly well written, but randomly it would be as if the editor fell asleep for a paragraphs throughout the chapters. During these moments, whatever was happening would suddenly be overly described for like 10 minutes straight. I don’t mind detailed novels, but this was more of stating the same thing multiple different ways to see how it would sound best and then forgetting to take out all the extra ones so you’re left listening to a description of a thorn in her leg for like an hour. A lot of repetitive moments and words used within the same sentences, but that might just be a personal pet peeve. Other than that, I loved it. The romance is cute and it’s nice to watch her develop into an independent woman in a realistic way and not just becoming a heroine, despite having zero experience.

However, I STRONGLY disliked the narration. The microphone was a little off, so you have to listen to it a little lower in volume or the s’s hurt your ears and make you cringe a little. I could get past that if the voice of Brock wasn’t so damn awful. There’s nothing more depressing than when a male lead is described as strong and sexy with a low, deep voice, but the narrator chooses to turn him into sounding like a 12 year old cartoon character with a whack accent. Like what is his accent? Starts out southern then just morphs into...we’ll i don’t even know what it turns into. She’s also not great at a British accent, so going back and forth for hours between the two makes it a little hard to listen to at times.
