Historia
On the hellish battlefields of World War II Europe, Major Dick Winters led his Easy Company - the now-legendary Band of Brothers - from the confusion and chaos of the D-day invasion to the final capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest. But Winters' story didn't end there; it was only the beginning. He was a quiet, reluctant hero whose modesty and strength drew the admiration of not only his men but millions worldwide.

Only thing I didn’t like was the fact it was to short. WW2 history is my favorite subject. And when you find a book written because of a man or woman because of their greatness, you get invested and upset when it ends. lol. Great book.

Historia
April 7, 1944 - This date marks the successful escape of two Slovak prisoners from one of the most heavily-guarded and notorious concentration camps of Nazi Germany. The escapees, Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler, fled over 100 miles to be the first to give the graphic and detailed descriptions of the atrocities of Auschwitz. Originally published in the early 1960s, I Escaped from Auschwitz is the striking autobiography of none other than Rudolf Vrba himself. Vrba details his life leading up to, during, and after his escape from his 21-month internment in Auschwitz.

This one got me a few times. Nothing bad but the story itself got me. This story is in my opinion a little different than most of the WW2 stuff I read. Like more personal or something. But yeah. Great listen.

Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

At first I was intrigued.
Revisado: 07-19-24
The beginning was a nice listen. Well read and interesting. A little past her diagnosis of cancer, started to become clear where it was potentially heading. And it did. Total sixth sense scenario. Good movie and the end got me. But Dean went totally predictable with it. I love the man’s work. This one for me fell flat. Sad truth I was going to end it, but being where I was in the story I had to see it through. Almost sorry if how many hours I wasted on the last “half” of the book. Now I have to dig deeper in his books to come to make sure this doesn’t happen again. See yall on the next one.

This guy needs a cape and a super cool secret tech base.
Revisado: 06-19-24
I’ve listened to this guy on pod casts and listen to this book twice now. He did the right thing and our government didn’t like being called out for being not so nice on the play ground. It will open your eyes to a lot of things. Stuff will start to make sense. It gets weird. But the end…. I did t expect that outcome whatsoever. Both times I listened I got a bit worked up. Well worth the read and or listen. I’d love to see a documentary or series on Netflix about this. But the government… they might frown upon that. Bottom
Line though. LISTEN TO THIS BOOK.

Historia
For decades, Fred Burton was a key figure in international counterterrorism and domestic spy craft. As a member of the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service in the mid 1980s, he was on the front lines of America's first campaign against terror. Now, in this hard-hitting memoir, Burton emerges from the shadows to reveal who he is, what he has accomplished, and the threats that lurk unseen except by an experienced, world-wise few. Told in a no-holds-barred, gripping, nuanced style, this behind-the scenes account of one counterterrorism agent's life and career is a riveting listen.

Historia
In the U.S. Marine Corps, the most dangerous job in combat is that of the sniper. With no backup and little communication with the outside world, these men disappear for weeks on end in the wilderness with nothing but intellect and iron will to protect them - as they watch, wait, and finally strike. But of all of the snipers who ever hunted human prey, one man stands above the rest as the most legendary fighting man to ever pull a trigger. That man is Carlos Hathcock.

They were called Easy Company, but their mission was never easy. Immortalized as the Band of Brothers, they suffered huge casualties while liberating Europe in an unparalleled record of bravery under fire. Dick Winters led them through the Battle of the Bulge, the attack on Foy, where Easy Company reached its breaking point, and finally into Germany, by which time each member had been wounded. Outside Munich, they liberated an S.S. death camp and captured Berchtesgaden, Hitler's alpine retreat.

The whole story is absolutely captivating. It doesn’t matter if you only watch the series or read/ listen to this story. You will not be disappointed and there was very little over dramatization of the key points in the book and story. It was as if it was being told by the actual men from the company themselves. And the story doesn’t change from one to the other. It’s all real. I’ll be listening to this a few time over. And the gentleman reading it… absolute best call for this book. That man’s voice is on the level of Sam Elliot.
