Historia
When Ichabod Crane arrives in the spooky little village of Sleepy Hollow as the new schoolmaster, Katrina Van Tassel is instantly drawn to him. Through their shared love of books and music, they form a friendship that quickly develops into romance. When romance gives way to passion, Ichabod and Katrina embark on a secret love affair, sneaking away into the woods after dark to be together - all while praying they do not catch sight of Sleepy Hollow’s legendary Headless Horseman. That is until Ichabod suddenly disappears, leaving Katrina alone and in a perilous position.

Fifty Shades of Sleepy Hollow
Revisado: 01-25-25
I enjoyed the story as I like all things “Sleepy Hollow.”
There was a lot of graphic sex in this story. It wasn’t necessary to the plot and I found it both disturbing and annoying.
Also, the title is misleading. There is nothing in the story where the character of Katrina is writing or owns a book of spells. She does write a book of stories, but that’s vastly different from a spellbook.
I did enjoy the characters and the story was enjoyable. The narrator did a fine job.

Historia
Seven-year-old Wen and her parents, Eric and Andrew, are vacationing at a remote cabin on a quiet New Hampshire lake. Their closest neighbors are more than two miles in either direction along a rutted dirt road. One afternoon, as Wen catches grasshoppers in the front yard, a stranger unexpectedly appears in the driveway. Leonard is the largest man Wen has ever seen, but he is young, friendly, and he wins her over almost instantly. Leonard and Wen talk and play until Leonard abruptly apologizes and tells Wen, “None of what’s going to happen is your fault.”

Wrong narrator
Revisado: 01-30-23
The narrator should have been a male for this story. The different voices done by the reader sounded absolutely ridiculous. It reminded me of an elementary school teacher reading to small children.
The story suffered because of this poor choice.
Wish I had read the book as opposed to listening to it.

Wickett’s Remedy leads us back to Boston in the early part of the 20th century and into the world of Lydia, an Irish-American shop girl yearning for a grander world than the cramped confines of South Boston. She seems to be well on her way to the life she has dreamed of when she marries Henry Wickett, a shy medical student and the scion of a Boston Brahmin family.

Remake this audiobook! Narration is AWFUL!
Revisado: 07-10-22
I love Myla Goldberg’s writing. Wickett’s Remedy is one of my favorite books of all time. BUT the narration of this book is AWFUL! Myla’s voice is exactly like Lisa Simpson’s. So listening to this high pitched cartoony voice took away so much of the power and drama of this story. I was severely disappointed.

Historia
"The Earth died in less than a minute. Maybe that's an exaggeration. It's not like the planet ceased to exist altogether. It just seemed like it. Cities were reduced to rubble. Millions of people died that day. I've since been told that 95 percent of the Earth's human population was wiped out. I don't know if that's true - I mean, who can know that for sure? It's not like we still have any of the technology that we once used to determine such things. But I do know that it was almost empty of people - live ones, that is..."

Horrible narration.
Revisado: 03-13-22
The reader is awful. He’s very dull and lackluster with no expression or inflection. He sounds as if he’s lecturing to a group of 12 year old boys.

Historia
Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

Historia
Months after the Waterless Flood pandemic has wiped out most of humanity, Toby and Ren have rescued their friend Amanda from the vicious Painballers. They return to the MaddAddamite cob house, newly fortified against man and giant pigoon alike. Accompanying them are the Crakers, the gentle, quasi-human species engineered by the brilliant but deceased Crake. Their reluctant prophet, Snowman-the-Jimmy, is recovering from a debilitating fever, so it's left to Toby to preach the Craker theology, with Crake as Creator.

A great finale
Revisado: 08-11-18
Madd Addam is a wonderful ending to this trio of books. The plot line is sometimes a bit confusing, but becomes clear as the book draws to the end. The multidimensional characters are incredible. You’ll find yourself becoming very attached to them.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

Historia
The long-awaited new novel from Margaret Atwood. The Year of the Flood is a dystopic masterpiece and a testament to her visionary power. The times and species have been changing at a rapid rate, and the social compact is wearing as thin as environmental stability. Adam One, the kindly leader of the God's Gardeners - a religion devoted to the melding of science and religion, as well as the preservation of all plant and animal life - has long predicted a natural disaster that will alter Earth as we know it. Now it has occurred, obliterating most human life.

I don’t recommend.
Revisado: 07-09-18
I was glad that I could fast forward through the music/hymns. They were annoying and didn’t fit the mood or created period of the book. Would these folks have had synthesized/electronic music? Acoustical instrumentals would have been much more in the mood of the piece.
The narration was average at best.
