Historia
The Story of a New Name is an extraordinary novel about two young women, Lila and Elena, growing up in Naples in the early 1960s. At 16 Lila marries the shopkeeper Stefano. She is filled with pleasure at her new wealth and horror at the life she has chosen. Elena’s own attempts at romance seem to be sabotaged by Lila’s turbulent affairs. As she tries to plot her way out of poverty via academic and literary success, her constant anxiety is that she is just a shadow of the brilliant Lila.

Such a beautifully written story

I love these books, and the narrator does them a true justice, with her poetic beautiful voice, a real treat.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow - and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is that story at last.

Surprisingly courageous
Revisado: 08-04-23
Memoir of grief, courage, powerful tribulations, and the enormous challenge of individuation for someone who was never meant to reveal it, expose it, but still did it, in his own deeply human way, exposing his vulnerability, and strangely doing a favour to the whole royal family, making them more real and human, deeply imperfect, but human. I hope they get an opportunity for repair, at some stage, although English clinging to their masks of indifference and superiority may not allow them.

Historia
Like golfing, fishing, and gardening, knitting is an obsession. It's an activity fraught with guilt, frustration, over-optimism, sly deception, and compulsion, along with passionate moments of creative enlightenment - not to mention heaps of yarn you really think you'll knit someday. The first step toward recovery is getting help - and having a good laugh at your compulsion. At Knit's End is a wicked and wickedly funny fix for any knitter.

Funny, honest and heart warming
Revisado: 12-20-22
I enjoyed this book a lot, and loved her voice and her reading performance. As l have taken my knitting needles again, after so many, many years, and when my beloved 18.5 year old Birman cat was becoming too sick to last much longer than a few more months, this knitting thing has given me the gift of processing snd slowly healing. Admittedly, it has created a very expensive addiction to yarn, needles and love of expensive wool! No reassurance came from this book’s author about this being a passing affair, and for that l’m grateful. Thank you.

Historia
The human soul is hungry for beauty; we seek it everywhere in landscape, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion, and in ourselves. When we experience the Beautiful, there is a wonderful sense of homecoming; we feel fully alive. Our lives become illuminated, and behind the shudder of appearances we come to glimpse the sure form of things. On Beauty: The Invisible Embrace, Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue invites us to remember and to awaken the Beautiful.

Overall good book, annoying narration
Revisado: 04-24-21
The book iitself is fine, although feels superficial. It’s ok for couples therapy where none of the partners has a decent dose of personality dysfunction, in particular narcissistic personality structure where these techniques could potentially make a vulnerable partner even more so. It assumes both parties are invested in the relationship equally, often not the case. So it feels somewhat superficial to me. The female narrator does the most annoying, pathetic, weak female voice impersonification that was difficult to listen to. I am surprised Sue Johnston allowed it to be released as such. I certainly wouldn’t have had it been my book!

Excellent book
Revisado: 07-17-20
Excellent, well-written book that covers a lot of ground, including a role of attachment and presents ADD a lot as an attachment disorder, which I find helpful, but others may argue for distinguishing them, which, in fact is often hard to do and this book does a good job at integrating rather then distinguishing the two disorders. On the whole this is a well-balanced book when it comes to bio-psycho-social-spiritual formulation. I truly enjoyed Daniel Mate’s voice and narration, one of the best l have heard on Audible books. Unfortunately, some of the Audible books are narrated by jarring, unpleasant voices that my ADD brain absolutely cannot stand even when I'm genuinely interested in the book itself. Daniel’s voice did a true service to this beautifully written book.
