Historia
The ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan gets more than greasy corn dogs and flat soda when he visits a carnival in Kansas to which his apprentice, Granuaile, drags him. He runs across a barker with a strange power over the crowd: attractive women leave their men and disappear into an unmarked tent, never to be seen again, and the men wander away, forgetting that they ever had girlfriends or wives. When Granuaile falls under the barker’s influence and enters the tent, Atticus isn’t about to forget it and move on.

Any additional comments?
If you want to be berated, buy this book. This is an excerpt from a longer webinar, so it was never really a book. The 'author' basically yells at you and tells you that procrastinating and perfectionism are bad habits that hurt your productivity (as if people purchasing this don't already know that!). There are almost no real strategies presented for conquering these habits except for super obvious ones like delegating tasks, setting priorities, or reminding yourself of what you would accomplish if you didn't procrastinate. The strategies are basically just that these habits are bad and you should stop doing them. Also, the webinar is aimed at corporate types, with examples drawn almost exclusively from business, so it doesn't really speak to larger audiences. And the book is way overpriced for a mere 33 minutes.

I was not very careful before I bought this. Other listeners should take note that unlike other of Braun's audiobooks, this one is abridged and it is not read by George Guidall, although the reader was fine.

Historia
These two great 17th-century philosophers aimed to break free of oppressive traditions. Free scientific inquiry led them to skeptically question everything, though they also tried to reconcile science with religious faith. Both Descartes and Bacon extolled the individual, arguing that the human mind can penetrate the deepest secrets of existence. Their ideas formulated the problems that would occupy philosophers for the next 300 years.

More Descartes than Bacon

Very detailed (and accurate) summary of Descartes's philosophy. Much less info about Bacon.
