Historia
Max is just your average girl. She works odd jobs, has a soul-crushing amount of debt, and happens to bear an uncanny resemblance to Europe’s youngest female prime minister, Sofia Christensen. Sofia is powerful, beautiful—and unfortunately, someone is trying quite hard to assassinate her. When the CIA approaches Max with a deal, a life-changing amount of money if she pretends to be Sofia on the prime minister’s annual Italian vacation, Max packs her bags for the Amalfi Coast.

Goofy action romance
Revisado: 04-24-25
Loved this author’s first book, but this one swings more silly. Character motivations and development are scant, coupled with nonsensical actions that make it hard to believe the story, let alone the romance. Loved the concept but the writing in this book felt very superficial. Will absolutely try the author’s next book with hopes it hits as well as her first! However, this book is well-suited for those who like a dash of goofy-ness and don’t care much about realistic plot, but just want to have some summer fun :)

Historia
After a tumultuous childhood, Christa Liddle has hidden away, both figuratively and literally. Happily studying sea snails in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Christa finds her tranquil existence thrown into chaos when her once-famous father—long thought dead after a plane crash—turns out to be alive, well, and ready to make amends. The world goes wild, fascinated by this real-life saga, pinning Christa and her family under the spotlight. As if that weren’t enough, her reunion with an old childhood friend reveals an intense physical attraction neither was expecting and both want to act on.

Interesting story, horrible characters
Revisado: 11-13-24
Loved Waxman’s previous book, The Bookish Life…, but this fell so short for me. The idea of the story was wonderful - intrigue, romance, humor! However, the characters were all either one dimensional, idiotic, or (in the case of every male character) complete shitheads. Made for a very long read. I have another of Waxman’s book and will look forward to trying her work again one day.

Historia
Cecilia Bassingwaite is the ideal Victorian lady. She's also a thief. Like the other members of the Wisteria Society crime sorority, she flies around England drinking tea, blackmailing friends, and acquiring treasure by interesting means. Sure, she has a dark and traumatic past and an overbearing aunt, but all things considered, it's a pleasant existence. Until the men show up.

Excellent story - ending disappoints
Revisado: 03-27-22
Jen DeLuca’s review of “delightfully bonkers” is so perfect! This story is just the thing to refresh anyone’s reading queue. It is a hilarious, feminist romp that only disappointed me in the very end. For me, Cecilia’s brilliant potential was never realized (no spoilers) and the ending was a lackluster resolution to an otherwise spectacular read. I’m looking forward to the next in series and, disappointment notwithstanding, heartily recommend this book!
