Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Nice epic story but too politically snarky!
Revisado: 10-15-21
Well great adventure, nice character development especially Franny and her mother. Much of this book is truly excellent...however when you read it with older eyes it is too political. The story would be great without the political references.

Historia
In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

I wish I could give this more stars!
Revisado: 10-15-21
David McCullough is one of my favorite authors. I have listened to Truman, The Panama Canal, The Wright Brothers and enjoy them immensely but....this is the best. David puts you in George Washington's shoes and gives you an awesome understanding of the man. The books starts out with the Battle of Boston and holds nothing back. I've listened to this many, many times. When you feel like you've had a bad day try George's bad days!!!!

Historia
747 is the thrilling story behind "the Queen of the Skies" - the Boeing 747 - as told by Joe Sutter, one of the most celebrated engineers of the 20th century, who spearheaded its design and construction. Sutter's vivid narrative takes us back to a time when American technology was cutting-edge and jet travel was still glamorous and new. With wit and warmth, he gives an insider's sense of the larger than life-size personalities - and the tensions - in the aeronautical world.

Joe has done the world a favor in his telling of the 747 coming to life. I really enjoyed this one and have listened to it multiple times. In the beginning he talks about Boeing's history, its nice to have Google Images at your fingertips to be able to see the development and modernization of air travel. Nice history of such an instrumental aircraft.

Historia
The Second World War had been over for three years when pilots, navigators, and air traffic controllers all over America were recalled to active duty to rescue Berlin. They were there within days and weeks, flying tired planes filled with food, coal, medicine, and mail. Many had bombed the place to rubble in 1944 and 1945.

Revisado: 10-15-21
Mr Reeves has done an excellent job chronically this event. What touched me was the way he described the sacrifices these brave guys did for the German people. Very ironic that America's most innocent young men can to the rescue of these former enemies and treated them with love and respect. The book was very inspirational especially the Candy Bomber and his lasting impact on the German\American relations.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ben's book. He has a wonderful sense of humor and he did a great job of shedding light onto this subject.
His work with Kelly Johnson was very inspiring. It must have been tough to follow in Kelly's footsteps. A little political but still informative.

At the tender age of 16, Philip W. Williams III is expelled from boarding school for committing a prank, and on the train home naturally wonders where his life will take him now. It never enters his mind that he will become a world-class marksman and a special agent of the US Army Counterintelligence Corps in postwar Germany, play a key role in the defection of a Soviet officer and then court danger as a courier for the CIA, marry an Austrian ballet dancer of ferocious mien, and become a best-selling novelist.

Historia
Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize David McCullough tells the dramatic story behind the story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly: Wilbur and Orville Wright.
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright's Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The Age of Flight had begun. How did they do it? And why?

Historia
In 1519 Magellan and his fleet of five ships set sail from Seville, Spain, to discover a water route to the fabled Spice Islands in Indonesia, where the most sought-after commodities (cloves, pepper, and nutmeg) flourished. Three years later, a handful of survivors returned with an abundance of spices from their intended destination, but with just one ship carrying 18 emaciated men. During their remarkable voyage around the world the crew endured starvation, disease, mutiny, and torture. Many men died, including Magellan, who was violently killed in a fierce battle.

Historia
Mexican drug cartels are shooting up the streets of Laredo and El Paso. Somali pirates are holding three U.S. tankers for ransom. The President of the United States is fed up and, as Commander in Chief, has what he thinks is a pretty bright idea — to get hold of Colonel Charley Castillo and his merry band and get them on the case. Unfortunately, that will be difficult. Everybody knows that the President hates Castillo’s guts, and has just had him forcibly retired from the military, and now Castillo’s men are scattered far and wide, many of them in hiding.
