Discover Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Salman Rushdie's classic fantasy novel. Set in an exotic eastern landscape peopled by magicians and fantastic talking animals, Salman Rushdie's classic children's novel Haroun and the Sea of Stories inhabits the same imaginative space as The Lord of the Rings, The Alchemist, and The Wizard of Oz.

Full of symbolism
Revisado: 04-19-19
I was ready to dismiss this book as a children’s selection, but the education and the symbolism of this book demonstrated the skill of Mr Rushdie as a writer. Although not an adult theme book, the complexity of values and circumstances made you think hard of the layers of the story.

Zora Neale Hurston’s voice is magnificent.
Revisado: 03-11-19
This audio book is a piece of genius. Beyond the technical aspect, the excellence in performance etc, for me it gave shape the intelligence of Zora's writing. The arch of the story and the character development is brilliant. I’m amazed at how little she is known. For me one of the best writing I've come across. I'm a fan.

Historia
On Christmas Eve, 1818, in a small Austrian village, a local Catholic priest and a church organist composed a Christmas carol that changed the course of holiday music forever. Exactly two hundred years later, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve heard “Silent Night” in the car, at the store and on TV – all in the same day.
In Jingle Bell Pop, John Seabrook, acclaimed author of The Song Machine, takes us deep inside the holiday music business. We go behind the scenes to meet some of the producers, songwriters and recording artists responsible for the timeless tunes we hear on repeat between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year.

Very preachy.
Revisado: 12-12-18
I don’t like that angle where the book is telling you what not to do. It’s suppose to be a Christmas release, it needed to be more cheerful. Discouraging people to write songs for no good reason is a bad place to go.

Historia
Though Anderson Cooper has always considered himself close to his mother, his intensely busy career as a journalist for CNN and CBS affords him little time to spend with her. After she suffers a brief but serious illness at the age of ninety-one, they resolve to change their relationship by beginning a yearlong conversation unlike any they have ever had before. The result is a correspondence of surprising honesty and depth in which they discuss their lives, the things that matter to them, and what they still want to learn about each other.

Some good insights.
Revisado: 11-01-18
This book could have been so much better. Overall it feels disconjointed. Anderson. Should have narrated the conversation all the way instead of the back and forth conversation that sounded like two different books. To me this would have been better if it was a straightforward exposition of the life of Gloria after all she has pearls to offer at her age. Finally at the end with Anderson having the last word I feel like he should have offered hope seeing that after all he will be the survivor of his family line. We all need hope.

Du Maurier is of course world famous for many of her novels. These two stories are perhaps even better known as films ( The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock and Don't Look Now by Nic Roeg), but here we bring you the full terrifying texts, superbly read by Peter Capaldi, who brings the true dimension of these works to the imagination.

Exciting story telling.

The writing and voice action is excellent. It was enthralling. The arc of the story particularly the ending is somewhat flat but the journey is just wonderful.
