I love Armand Rosamilia. I also enjoy comedy books. To give you an idea of my reading tastes, so you can see if our minds are alike and my review helpful, My favorite genre is mystery and detective/private investigator fiction, with my favorite sub genre being mystery comedy. Armand is a great comedy author. If you enjoyed this book, then definitely check out the Dirty Deeds series on audible, kindle, or paperback. It’s one of my favorite series of all time regardless of media type!
P.S. - I wasn’t paid, given, or promised anything for this review, I just genuinely love this author’s work.

The books premise is one not wholly original but always captivating.. a person is plucked out of ordinary life and thrust into the world of espionage by series of unfortunate and unlucky events. They have to then see it through to the end and catch the bad guys to save themselves and loved ones. We have all read, watched, and listened to this story a thousand times. Am I going to knock this book because it isn’t the most original book ever? No. Because the reason we have all seen or heard this story a thousand times is because we love this story. So no issue with the story.. why only 3 stars? Because this book took that premise and messed it up. This was some random kid put into an outlandish circumstance. This was an episode of macguyver. Apparently because the protagonist was a super fan of a spy novel series he knows exactly what needs to be done at the exact right moment every time. And he knows exactly what the bad guys are going to do. It only does this “random kid put in a bad situation” have the knowledge and aptitude of a veteran James Bond.. he is also basically a BLACK BELT in taekwondo. He says he only doesn’t have a black belt because he hasn’t been able to break the concrete block. And if we are to assume he has actually earned a black belt from a real martial artist and didn’t just pay for it by attending a certain amount of classes, then we have to assume this 15 year old kid is some sort of spy prodigy. And we have to assume his black belt is real because he escapes, disarms, and beats his way out of 5 (FIVE) (!!!!!) kidnappings throughout the book. So it made this book not about an unlucky, normal, “it could happen to anyone” type of guy story.. but instead a story about the bad guys being the most unlucky bad guys of all time because the 15 year old kid who found the dead body and became involved is a ninja, spy, kid genius, savant who was the only one that could have thwarted their crime. Now with all that being said, you don’t go into a book like this and expecting Shakespeare. It provided b level movie entertainment which I’m guessing is what most people are looking for with a book like this.. time passing, mind numbing entertainment. And it does do that. So 3 out of 5!

Historia
When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he's been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn't just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth…

Interesting story, excellent performance
Revisado: 04-15-21
The story was just interesting enough to keep you going and the performance was fantastic. I do wish the story had dived deeper into the creation and religious aspects but that would have made a much longer and different book! Would recommend.

Historia
In the first audiobook, The Gumshoe Diaries: Fortune Cookies Always Lie, he introduces us to Whitey Roode, a shaggy but likeable former LAPD gold shield who turned private investigator after (as he tells it) being invited to retire by the brass. Stanton then takes us on a wheels-within-wheels scavenger hunt for the killer - or killers - of pretty Mei Li Teng (a.k.a Sally November), the not-so-innocent niece of Whitey's close friends and occasionally accurate snitches, Jai Lai and Lu Rong.

Very good modern noir story! I loved the three different narrators doing the three different POVs. I see that after 4 years the sequel is finally being released, but I only see one narrator listed. I hope it keeps the same style. I’ll definitely check it out! Would recommend.

Historia
Sid Hansen is a remorseless, death-dealing super-soldier - and he works at Gamestop. That’s right. Kill Team One now has a job in a videogame retail store filled with cranky customers, shoplifters, crying kids, and people who just haven't figured out how to use Steam yet. A global organization of radical Islamists have tracked Sid all the way from the mountains of Afghanistan, where he may or may not have been kinda sorta responsible for just some itty bitty little crimes against humanity. Hell-bent on revenge, they’ve planned the largest martyrdom operation ever conducted.

Back to back
Revisado: 04-08-21
I listened to the first in the serious and this one back to back and they are perfect, shut your brain off, mindless entertainment. It’s a shame the others in the series weren’t made into audiobooks because i would have purchased all of them right now. I have a feeling others would have done the same. It’s not Shakespeare and doesn’t pretend to be.. if you go into this book with the same expectations of watching a humerous action B movie then you will
Be throughly entertained.

It's crass gun porn filled with fanboy pandering action movie references. Do you like action movies? Do you like dark, edgy, hard-boiled heroes? Do you like fully automatic weapons blasting guys' heads off? How about product endorsements that are awkwardly placed between depictions of intense violence? Yeah? Then this book is for you!

Interesting concept
Revisado: 04-08-21
Interesting concept that almost worked too well. Mindless action works in movies because it’s eye candy... in the book it works against itself because we all know what is going to happen at every event in the book.. good guy wins by the most obvious action trope possible. There isn’t a plot question to make us wonder. So what makes a reader continue to turn the page and why did I say “almost”? Well lucky enough for this book there is just enough humor and satire to keep you entertained throughout. Not great but if you want to read a satire send up to the 80s action movies of your youth.. this is the book for you

Entertaining story!
Revisado: 04-07-21
Love that it intertwines real history with the story by using real life incidents and people. One downside to this is when the information is wrong. I would understand if they tweaked history for the sake the story but some of it was just bad editing, such as Toole being convicted of Adam Walsh’s murder. He did confess but it was never taken to trial because lack of evidence and Toole recanting his confession. There were a couple other instances like this that kind of took me out of what was otherwise a very immersive story because of the use of real history.

In a not-so-distant future, a deadly pandemic has forced the world into social isolation. Confined to their homes, millions now survive off drone-delivered food packages and online-only interactions. It’s an especially lonely life for John Chambers, a drone shipment coordinator for the monolithic Chum Corporation. Trapped in his dead-end job and having just turned 40, John’s started spending more time grinding in virtual reality MMORPGs than he does grinding for his real-world job--and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by human resources!

Revisado: 03-04-21
Without spoiling anything i will say that the information learned at the very end seemed unnecessary and doesn’t really seem to connect to the rest of the book. BUT.. that little tidbit at the end doesn’t take away from an absolutely awesome novel. I love King’s shorter novels that get us to the point and get us rolling on an adventure. I really hope this is the beginning of a new series. I want a lot more from Jamie and his ability! Another great work from a living legend.

While this wasn’t exactly original, it was very well written. Wouldn’t mind reading an original full length novel from this author.
