Historia
“Don’t be evil” was enshrined as Google’s corporate mantra back in its early days, when the company’s cheerful logo still conveyed the utopian vision for a future in which technology would inevitably make the world better, safer, and more prosperous. Unfortunately, it’s been quite a while since Google, or the majority of the Big Tech companies, lived up to this founding philosophy. Today, the utopia they sought to create is looking more dystopian than ever.

Informative or apocalyptic
Revisado: 10-14-20
This book was extremely enlightening, but I almost regret being so precisely enlightened. It was a near-apocalyptic view of a dystopian consumer future. It confirmed some of my worst suspicions but also gave me nightmares. The only ray of sunshine was the flashlight beam that the author cast into the darkness occasionally, to show the possible way out of a dark destiny. And the exit depends on a lot of things that are not likely to happen. So, as I said, I almost regret being so well informed. Let’s hope the way out of that future is made easier by this awareness being implanted into our lawmakers and voters... before the exits close!

Historia
The Addictive Brain is a fair and balanced investigation of addiction, backed by hard science and behavioral science. Most of us have probably seen the old antidrug commercial in which an actor compares your brain on drugs to an egg sizzling in a hot frying pan. That's a powerful image, but it doesn't tell us what actually happens when drugs enter your body and interact with neurochemical processes.

Good, and informative, but maybe out dated
Revisado: 07-19-19
This book doesn’t mention chronic pain management theory and practices, a significant new addition to addiction therapy. I think that leaves out some important points. The ones mentioned are all still good and no doubt accurate, but could be more complete.

Historia
I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

As an abstract concept it’s pretty creative!
Revisado: 02-13-19
The characters are pretty well developed actually. The plot is sort of secondary to the characters and the abstract world they act out in. The roles they play are entertaining, although a little irreverent (that seems to be the norm these days). The jokes are frequently elaborate and subtle, but I like that. Overall, it was a nice diversion and a little different. I needed that.

As kids books go - this a very good story
Revisado: 10-30-17
My wife and I like a good adolescent story now and then; they usually have good moral values and an entertaining story line. This story is no exception. It's gratifying to hear a story that builds character and leads you to the moral high ground. And it's especially gratifying to know that kids could pick up these values from a good story! Good job Mr. Cooper! Please continue!
