Must read for everyone who earns a check.
Revisado: 08-13-13
I have listen to this book 5 times now, granted it is a short book, but the information in this book is invaluable. It is to the point and doesn't baby you, if your finances are a mess it is most likely your fault. This is not a get rich quick book, it is a plan on fixing your finances and making the right decisions to live a life with out money worries. Dave lays out baby steps and a easy to follow plan, explains how to do it, and why. I am following the plan and hope to be debt free at the end, it is a long process and it isn't easy, but nothing worth while is. I absolutely recommend this.

Let Me Down
Revisado: 07-09-13
I came into this book hoping for a look at McKinley and his assassin. Unfortunately this book was unfocused I understand that with a historical look at the event, that you have to step back and look at the life of the individuals in question. But the author would start with McKinley or Czolgosz and then move further into events that I felt were not relevant. I was hoping at a deeper look into the personal lives of these two men, instead the story's main focus was on McKinley's Geo-political achievement's and the Anarchist movement of the late 1800's. I do appreciate the history lesson, but as I said I wanted more time to get to know these two men and also the days up to and following the event in greater detail. As for the performance I enjoyed Mr. Morey, he did a great job and I had no issues with his voice or how he read the subject matter. This book wasn't for me, I hope that my review helps and that if you are looking for the story that is told here that you enjoy it.

Historia
Karen Abbott's colorful, nuanced portrait of the iconic Everleigh sisters; their world-famous brothel, the Everleigh Club; and the perennial clash between our nation's hedonistic impulses and Puritanical roots culminates in a dramatic last stand between brothel keepers and crusading reformers. Sin in the Second City offers a vivid snapshot of America's journey from Victorian-era propriety to 20th-century modernity.

A Losing Battle
Revisado: 07-09-13
This was a very good book, I wasn't fully prepared for the depth of human trafficking that came with it. Not knowing the long and hard to believe history that America had with what was called "white slavery" the sale of young women to brothels and pimps. I am very interested in Chicago's history and there is a lot of it here. I recommend this book for sure, but be warned that there were some horrible things going on at the turn of the century and that it is all covered here. As far as the performance, I felt that it was a very good reading, not one of my favorites but good none the less.

Historia
The ordeal of the whaleship Essex was an event as mythic in the nineteenth century as the sinking of the Titanic was in the twentieth. In 1819 the Essex left Nantucket for the South Pacific with 20 crew members aboard. In the middle of the South Pacific the ship was rammed and sunk by an angry sperm whale. The crew drifted for more than 90 days in three tiny whaleboats, succumbing to weather, hunger, and disease and ultimately turning to drastic measures in the fight for survival.

Some times surviving is a worst fate
Revisado: 06-04-13
This is a great book, that not only brings to life the true and sad story of the Essex. But it dives in to the history and practices of whaling, it is not for the faint of heart. It is very well written and keeps to the story, never swaying to far to bring in backstory and fact. If you like history or tales about the sea you should definitely pick it up, but like I said it is not for the faint of heart. Whaling is a brutal profession, and surviving a ship wreck to be stranded at sea proved to be even worse. As far as the performance, I enjoyed the reader he set a great tone through out the book. There are issues between chapters, at times a following chapter would almost start on top of the previous, it was jarring at first but not a deal breaker.

Science's best-kept secret is that there are experimental results and reliable data that the most brilliant scientists can neither explain nor dismiss. If history is any precedent, we should look to today's inexplicable results to forecast the future of science. Michael Brooks heads to the scientific frontier to meet 13 modern-day anomalies and discover tomorrow's breakthroughs.

Not what I thought it would be about.
Revisado: 04-29-13
The book started out as I expected it to, going over some really thought provoking stuff.
But I felt that at times it would wonder a little bit. And it started to lose my attention toward
the end, as the subject matter started to lean more on the medical side. Not a bad book, just not as captivating or interesting as what I have been reading lately. The narration was good, the performer has a voice for reading. He does have a accent, so do listen to a sample to be sure that it is agreeable to you.

Historia
James A. Garfield may have been the most extraordinary man ever elected president. Born into abject poverty, he rose to become a wunderkind scholar, a Civil War hero, and a renowned and admired reformist congressman. Nominated for president against his will, he engaged in a fierce battle with the corrupt political establishment. But four months after his inauguration, a deranged office seeker tracked Garfield down and shot him in the back. But the shot didn’t kill Garfield. The drama of what happened subsequently is a powerful story of a nation in turmoil.

Must read for history buffs
Revisado: 04-20-13
Great book, Garfield is definitely my favorite president now. It was really sad to hear that
he could have survived the bullet his assassin fired into him, but that the selfish head Doctor in charge of his recovery caused his death. It is unbelievable how much medical treatment has changed since then. Still, Dr. Bliss was more worried about the notoriety for saving the president than actually helping him. Denying other Doctors from helping in Garfield's recovery was a mistake. I felt that the Narration was great, very good voice for history.
Either way this book very enjoyable, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys history.

Historia
On television, as the star of the popular Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Kevin Sorbo portrayed an invincible demi god. He relished living the part—putting in 14-hour days on set, doing his own stunts, and relentlessly working out at the gym. Until one day it all came to an abrupt end. Now, for the first time, Sorbo shares what viewers didn’t know: he suffered three strokes from an aneurysm in his shoulder and was left partially blind and entirely incapacitated at just 38 years old.

A very personal look at Kevin Sorbo
Revisado: 04-14-13
Very good book, it is definitely a personal look at Kevin Sorbo and all the health troubles he endured. I was hoping for a few more stories about being on Hercules, but I was still really intrigued about how he was able to put on a strong front even though he felt like he was always on the verge of dying. I also enjoyed Kevin's narration, adds to the personality of story. Really powerful stuff, totally recommend even if you might not be a fan of Hercules.
