Historia
Simon can only watch, helpless, as his family is killed and his friends captured by enemy Travelers—men and women who can summon mystical powers from otherworldly Territories. To top it off, another young man from Simon's village discovers that he's a savior prophesied to destroy evil and save the realm. Prophecy has nothing to say about Simon. He has no special powers, no magical weapons, and no guarantee that he'll survive. But he sets off anyway, alone, to gain the power he needs to oppose the Travelers and topple their ruthless Overlord.

Unfortunately Uninterested
Revisado: 12-07-23
I tried to give this second book a chance after listening to the first one but I found myself genuinely uninterested in finishing it. it's unfortunate, I wanted to like it and like this series but I just can't. It seems like all of these books are just a mashup of all the different heroes and fairy tales mushed together and it's not as appealing as you might think.

not sure what I was meant to feel
Revisado: 11-16-23
I won't dump all over this book series. The author said that some of these books are meant as backstory to the characters so that is why I'm giving them a chance.
That being said, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about the main character of this book. I spent the first good part of this book hating the main character. I honestly believed that this person was going to die in the first 30 minutes of the book, thus revealing the actual hero. I can see that it's supposed to be some sort of redemption arc for this guy, but everything that happened can be put squarely on his feet for the simple fact that he's an awful awful person. By the end of the book, am I supposed to feel for this guy? Am I supposed to believe that he's some kind of hero? Some kind of Robin Hood? because I don't. Literally makes a man mad with grief because he tried to steal his wife thus leading to this whole dark evil magic thing.
I hope the rest of the books don't follow the same road as this one where we get some absolute villain of a main character that we are supposed to believe turns into a hero because that's not really that enjoyable.

honestly disappointed
Revisado: 10-19-22
after having enjoyed the other books in this series I was really looking forward to this book as it seemed like it would be the obvious book where some real meaningful character development would happen. I was extremely disappointed to see that it did not happen at all. It's like if a child tells a poop joke and gets a laugh and then only ever tells poop jokes. well this is book 4 of poop jokes. I will not be reading any more in this series and genuinely wish I had never purchased and listened to this book as it is spoiled the entire series for me. if this is also the trend in there other series then unfortunately I will not be continuing that one either which would be very disappointing since I really enjoyed the light-heartedness of these books but it is just gotten to be too much.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 07-03-18
With a header like "if you love Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson you'll love this" I had high hopes. My hopes were quickly squashed and I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to finish the series. The only reason I finished the book at all was because of the amazing performance by Nick Podel. The author clearly tried way to hard when coming up with names for everything, they are so long and awkward nothing stuck in my memory and I found myself forgetting what a character had done or confused them with someone else. If it weren't for the fact I hate not finishing books I would have left this one alone an hour in.

Historia
Summer has come to Krynn, a summer unlike any before. The sun bears down on land and sea, searing the world with relentless light and heat. Clouds and rain are nowhere to be found, and even the darkness of night brings little relief from the strange and oppressive day. Meanwhile, those who commune regularly with their gods are uneasy. Every day, their deities become more distant, more difficult to reach. Clerics' prayers go unanswered, and magic goes awry.
