Keith Lee Johnson is an astonishing author. I never imagined he would be able to add to this series but he did it and it wasn't disappointing.

Historia
When two Union soldiers stumble onto a plantation in northern Georgia on a warm May day in 1864, the last thing they expect is to see the Union flag flying high - or to be greeted by a group of freed slaves and their Jewish mistress. Little do they know that this place has an unusual history. Twelve years prior, Adelaide Mannheim - daughter of Mordecai, the only Jewish planter in the county - was given her own maid, a young slave named Rachel. The two became friends, and soon they discovered a secret.

Loved this book & loved the narrator even more!!
Revisado: 08-04-16
This book is a must read for every American. So many points of view during and post slavery. I learned so much. I also laughed, cried and eagerly anticipated more. I love the way Bahni Turpin reads, the way she handles each character just brings them to life for me. Not sure if I love Bahni's narration or the book more. I'll just say she makes a great book greater. During these hard pressed racial times in America, this is absolutely a must read and maybe we would have more understanding and love for one another.

Great story line, great characters, awesome action. Story wasn't what I expected but great twist. Not ur typical ending and will keep guessing. Just when I think I know will happen she surprises you. Very close to what you think would happen in real life.

Historia
First published in 1997,
Little X chronicles the multigenerational experience of Tate's family, who broke from the traditional Black church in the 1950s to join the radical Nation of Islam, then struggled to remain intact through disillusionment, shifting loyalties, and forays into Orthodox Islam.
Little X offers a rare glimpse into the everyday experience of the Nation of Islam and into a little-understood part of America's history and heritage.

didn't meet expectations
Revisado: 06-05-16
I thought I would get real insight on the NOI but I simply some of the same I've heard on the street. the author told more about her family than about the nation itself. or maybe there's nothing more to know, not sure but overall the book left me wondering about what wasn't being told.

A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. whole lot about nothing
Revisado: 04-26-16
love Patricia R. Floyd but hated the book, could hv been summed up in two chapters. the in between wasn't entertaining and it was painful to sit through and I really tried to give it a chance. I can tell the writer is good with words just could hv been better at entertaining the reader and building the plot.
