Luceno does a fantastic job of connecting disparate threads from other media and presenting a lush, detailed story.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Fantastic
Revisado: 02-04-24
One of the best stories I've experienced. The math, the science, the characters, all immaculately rendered. The spirit of humanity triumphs in this tale of survival where every situation endangers an already precarious mission. I cannot recommend this enough.

Historia
Ghur is a realm of vast wilds and savage beasts. Few are more vicious than the herdchief, Ghroth the Rootcutter. Brutal and ruthless, he leads his warherd from one massacre to the next, slaughtering all who defy him. Yet this is not enough to sate Ghroth's bloodthirsty ambition - to become the mightiest of beastlords. When a fearsome vision promises Ghroth the power he craves, he leads a small band of warriors far across the wastes to seize the relic that will make all beastkin submit to his dominion.

A swing and a Miss
Revisado: 05-10-23
I think this book suffers from good ideas executed poorly. The ending is grim but could have been better with a bit more preface. Everyone loves a labyrinth, but the foreshadowing didn't add enough to the conclusion.
The book takes a long time to work through the thoughts of the Beastmen, especially when hunting. The tediousness was compounded by the redundancy of their thought patterns. We didn't gain insight from these monologues, and it seems out of place to spend so much time narrating the thoughts of one of the more primal factions.
Excellent narration. Games Workshop finds great voices for their stories.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-17-23
This seemed disjointed when compared to previous entries. A lot of filler, but interesting enough once things started moving again. A couple scenes seemed out of place, trying too hard for comedy that it comes off flat. The Clancy-esque style of writing continues to be a benefit. And as usual, the bad to worse kind of scenarios keep you on the edge of the seat, right to the cliffhanger end.

The Siege of Excelsis is over at last, and the survivors count the costs amidst the rubble of their city. Even for Galen and Doralia ven Denst, two of the most feared witch hunters in the Order of Azyr, the horrors they have witnessed are not so easily dismissed. Struggling with the traumas inflicted by the siege, Doralia's concerns only grow when her father disappears into the wilds of Ghur. Could have been worse
Revisado: 07-12-22
But it could have been better too. The narrator overcompensates for a lackluster story by embellishing dialogue. Edgy alcoholic girl, her father a cutout from The Big Book of Tropes. Ending elevates the tale by a star. Most interesting part was the protagonists working with the lady they hate most. The story would benefit from developing the villain more. His motives were compelling and his interactions with the others provided dynamic scenes.

Historia
The Covenant mission is the most ambitious endeavor in the history of Weyland-Yutani. A ship bound for Origae-6, carrying 2,000 colonists beyond the limits of known space, this is a make-or-break investment for the corporation - and for the future of all mankind. Yet there are those who would die to stop the mission. As the colony ship hovers in Earth orbit, several violent events reveal a deadly conspiracy to sabotage the launch.

Good
Revisado: 06-05-22
Political intrigue and some hard sci Fi concepts makes this an interesting listen. However, there are no scenes that contain the alien in this story. It's background on the company that founded the colony and the struggles it faced during the launch. Interesting, but not what I was looking for. Narrator was excellent.

Fantastic
Revisado: 01-26-22
Great setting for the story. I was a little wary of another book set on an Agri world but the focus highlights different aspects than The Oubliette. Outstanding main character, the point of view served this story well. its quick and the end is a bit anticlimactic for me but the entire story is more than worth it. Doesn't seem like the novel to get a sequel but I look forward to more horror entries by the author.

Historia
Exalting war and art in harmony, the warrior-artisans of the Angels Resplendent have forged a radiant haven amidst a blighted galaxy. But an ancient sin stains their honour - a wound in their world that will never heal. Ignorant souls would call it a forest, but those who watch over it know better. Nothing natural grows in the Reverie’s snow-swept glades or wanders amongst the unnatural things that do, save for the intruders who trespass on its pain. Some seek revelation or redemption, others dream of winning a place amongst the Resplendent, but all come because they must.

flashbacks
Revisado: 09-08-21
too many flashbacks, they ruin the pace and disrupt the narrative only to be referenced briefly in a following scene. they aren't badly written or uninteresting, but utterly pointless and quite aggravating. Felt like the video game, you were acquiring gear and shit like that. Not in a good way. Dialogue was awkward, but a few good scenes with the alien and the prologue was decent. Would avoid this author, but narrator was great

It gets better
Revisado: 05-31-21
For me, this story started a little slow, but from a little before half way to the end, it becomes something pretty amazing. Some great twists in the plot, and I found myself invested in most of the characters. I just think the beginning was a little bogged down by action sequences that were a bit overlong. Definitely worth it though. But be warned, it is a tragedy.
