Historia
No one wants to overeat. And certainly no one wants to overeat for years, become overweight, and end up with a high risk of diabetes or heart disease--yet two thirds of Americans do precisely that. Even though we know better, we often eat too much. Why does our behavior betray our own intentions to be lean and healthy? The problem, argues obesity and neuroscience researcher Stephan J. Guyenet, is not necessarily a lack of willpower or an incorrect understanding of what to eat.

Do not recommend
Revisado: 12-21-21
If you like the get into every single granular details about the neurons in your brain and why they fire off for what reasons then this book is for you. I found it to be too technical and it was difficult to focus.

It's 2524. Harvest is a peaceful, prosperous farming colony on the very edge of human-controlled space. But humanity has unknowingly trespassed on holy ground - straying into the path of the aggressive, theocratic empire known as the Covenant. But humanity is also currently locked in a bitter civil war of its own: the Insurrection.

Difficult to follow along
Revisado: 09-11-20
Might have just been me, but I really had a tough time following along with my the story. I got about 2 hours in and actually restarted the book because I realized I missed a lot of information. I just couldn’t get into it.

Historia
Why do only a few people get to say "I love my job?" It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning a lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong. Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

Pretty good
Revisado: 03-05-20
I enjoyed the first half of this book more than the second. The second part felt like it went off on a tangent about politics and news channels and I didn’t see how that related. The first part of the book was also focused on leadership, second part was focused on human needs, I was expecting the whole book to be about leadership.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

I always knew sleep was important but never to what extent and why. This book did a good job of explaining all aspects of sleep and why it’s so important for our quality of life.

Good information
Revisado: 02-13-20
I enjoyed the information in the book. I’m a big keto fan and agreed with everything the author said. I didn’t like the narrator though, it felt like she was reading with too much fake enthusiasm. I also wasn’t a fan of the parts where the author read of recipes, but some people may find that useful.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 01-27-20
I was expecting a book amount General Mattis, but this was more of a play by play about the wars in the Middle East. The first section about tactical leadership was ok, but the rest was pretty boring. The narrator was very bad too and I ended up speeding up playback to get this book over with. Would not recommend.

Revisado: 01-21-20
Admiral McRaven is a fantastic story teller. It was hard to put this book down. I wasn’t a big fan of the music that played at the beginning and end of some chapters, but it wasn’t a big deal. I will definitely read this again. What an awesome person he was.
