Historia
When Aurelie Harcourt's father dies in debtor's prison, he leaves her just two things: his wealthy family, whom she has never met, and his famous pen name, Nathaniel Droll. Her new family greets her with apathy and even resentment. Only the quiet houseguest, Silas Rotherham, welcomes her company. When Aurelie decides to complete her father's unfinished serial novel, she must keep her identity as Nathaniel Droll hidden while searching for the truth about her mother's disappearance - and perhaps even her father's death.

The mystery of Lady Jane and the warm reverence for downtrodden people that the narrator embodied.

A longer happy ending. I would like to see the new couple settled in a lovely cottage, beginning their lives together.

Needs a more fleshed our ending.
Revisado: 11-12-21
I enjoyed this multifaceted story. The ending was quite quick and felt unfinished. I would have liked the main character to have brought her final information to her sisters. This would have clarified the final letter she read. a little confused about that.

Simple, shallow and repetitive
Revisado: 05-29-21
The monotonous repetetive statements of attraction by the main characters were tiresome. They felt like so much filler, over and over again, as if to achieve a certain word count. This story was predictable, and hard to get through. The narration did not make me feel immersed in the story. It felt stiff. This story felt like it was written by a very young person.

Historia
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

I loved this. Complex and very satisfying! it made me think throughout the book. I will be looking for more from this author. My only criticism is the Boston and NH accents. They are very bad. I would know.

Boring drone from a male perspective.
Revisado: 04-28-21
Struggled to go beyond the first chapter. The narrator fails to convey a presence in the story. His voice rambles along like a poet's musings, and I don't like the trivialization of women via various nicknames and classifications. Definitely a story from a man's perspective.
