Historia
Only five days have passed since Jade was brought to a distant world and a new life. Mobile for the first time ever, Jade is given the chance to do something she’s always wanted: attend school. Dracona isn’t your typical school, however. In Andara she needs to learn all the skills an adventurer needs. For her, that means how to cast magic and use weapons without hurting herself. She’ll have to learn fast because the obstacle course isn’t the only thing challenging her progress; she’s racing against the clock to learn how to beat the Mesmer before they find her.

Singing in MC voice adds to the good feeling
Revisado: 07-13-19
As a reader for an already semi cute story SN deserves some kudos for keeping things somewhat real. She sings quirky song snippets in her Jade voice while getting better throughout the book to match the skill improvements in singing as character sheets expand. Not to the level of Mel Blanc doing opera in his Elmer Fudd voice yet but the series is young. It may sound like a trivial point but I appreciate the attention to detail. It's a good redemption, recovery, coming of age, slice of life with a foreshadowing of conflict story that I'd read as it was released. So I'm sticking with the journey till the end anyway. Still, I think many will enjoy it. It's not very bloody, angsty, portentious or at all sexy as many of the litrpg readers want so don't come looking for that. But I enjoyed it through several commuter readings and I hope others will, too.

Anna survives a deadly virus at age four thanks to a poisonous red-headed krait. The medical community is excited since there is no known cure for the virus, but Anna and her snake, Red, have a symbiotic relationship. If she is ever separated from Red, she will die. As her krait becomes known and valuable throughout the three star empires as one of only a handful of such snakes, she fights off attempts to kill her and snatch Red. When the Naval Intelligence Agency, the NIA, recruits her, her adventures grow beyond fending off thieves and killers.

Good reading but a warning
Revisado: 11-18-17
Good story that I got as soon as I saw it. Especially liked the young Anna. But there is an odd problem relevant to listening on an Alexa enabled reader. Anna's adoptive parent is named Alexa. When I got to the chapters where there was a lot of dialog the reading stops every time the name gets read. I'm embarrassed by how long it took me to figure it out. So turn off the auto respond and you'll have a much better experience.

Historia
Taz is a member of a very successful rogue-hunting team. The rogues she and her teammates hunt include rogue vampires, ghouls, and shapeshifters, among others. Vampires have been legal citizens in the world for 500 years, but they do still have rogues from time to time.

Great performance of a good story
Revisado: 06-02-17
Would you listen to Dead Heat again? Why?
I've done so several times. Because it's good story with short arcs that make it work even if you listen to just a chapter or so at a time driving to work and back.
Who was your favorite character and why?
George Lee. He's always watching out for Taz even after death. He's not so much a free range ghost as her personal haunt and conscience.
What does Suzanne Elise Freeman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Sharon Green has always had some problems with stilted dialog but it hasn't ever really bothered me. But the reader's flow smoothed all that and made the sometimes awkward back and forth work better. Especially the dinner scenes seem natural. Also the breathy low tones for all the vampires gave them an extra feel of menace.
Any additional comments?
I've read Sharon Green's stuff since she started. I've really enjoyed being able to hear at least one of her stories read. Hope she does a few more.
