Great story. Precision so permeates our world that we don’t even notice it. Precision is what enables our 21st century lives. We only Not it in its erred absence. Our day are precise but not perfect.

A must listen to biography. It's accurate to the life of M and very well narrated. The novel adds depth and fills out the humanity of M's life and times with speculative dialogue.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Hibbert's history maintains a weak and modestly approving story through Lorenzo the Magnificent. After that, the story disappears among names, tangents and snide comments. Listening becomes extremely difficult in the latter half of the book. Hibbert's descriptions are simply cruel, and the cruelty is compounded by Page's haughty tone. Why, for instance, does Hibbert focus so many lines on on the smell and pain of Pope Leo X's anal fistula? Pope Leo certainly made errors, but Hibbert's credibility founders when he mocks Leo's illness.

I'll try to return the book for a credit.

Would you recommend The House of Medici to your friends? Why or why not?

I would not recommend the entire book or narration. Copy or borrow the early chapters through Cosimo.

What didn’t you like about Michael Page’s performance?

Very, very irritating. He accentuates Hibbert's disdain and haughty phrasing.

Could you see The House of Medici being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Anything can get turned into a movie. Would it be good? Probably not.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book has moments of greatness lost in hours of misguided opinion. The author is a doctor and seems a great clinician. When he sticks to doctoring, the stories are insightful and inspiring. But the stories get lost in lots of ill-informed statements are the grand "errors" of the American medical system.

Case in point: Reilly's very critical of the pioneering, hi-tech care given to critical care patients. That care, though, drives innovation throughout the medical system. The advanced care of the 1960s and 1970s--transplants, open-heart surgeries, pacemakers--is now the routine care for all patients. The successful advanced treatments given now will be the routine care protocols of 2020. Reilly doesn't get it. We patients had better get it, or lots of people will die unnecessarily.

I originally bought this audio and two hard-copies based on the first chapter story. I've returned the audio and tossed both copies. Why waste one's time with hours of ill-informed of policy and politics?

Would you ever listen to anything by Brendan Reilly again?

Stick to doctoring. Write short stories, not books. Keep your mouth shut and pen capped when it comes to politics and policy.

How could the performance have been better?

The narration is terrible. Cadence is so slow, and 2x is unclear. Character voices are terrible--women get loud and screechy.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from One Doctor?

Edit out most of the book pertaining to politics and policy. Keep the clinical stories.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

There's an important story to be told about science and cancer. This book doesn't tell it. Lots of distortions and misinformation intended to scare you. By all means, avoid science and eat blueberries, Ms Davis.

What could Devra Davis have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Renew her mind. Get real

What three words best describe Pam Ward’s performance?

Where does Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's top notch. A kid's book that's like a good ride through unknown and intriguing territory. Really two stories: one the real-life history of the Pilgrims exodus to America and the school kids fantasy of a time traveling teacher and horse.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims?

The contrast between the near starvation of the Pilgrims on arrival in America and the cornucopia of a 50s drive-in.

What does Rush Limbaugh bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His seriousness, respect and humor underscore the story at appropriate times.

Would you consider the audio edition of Trump Strategies for Real Estate to be better than the print version?

The book stresses strategy, but also addresses a lot of negotiating tactics as well. The book's written by George Ross, a long-time business associate and attorney for Donald Trump. It is solid and full of ideas we can put to work in business and especially in real estate investment. The key is always: "how do I add value?" Without an solid business answer to that question, the rest of the strategy rests on sand. But there are lots of other strategic and tactical ideas that the author covers in a systematic and clear manner.

Along the way, you get to know both Donald Trump. I was rather neutral on Trump before I read the book, but I come away with a new found and deep respect for the main's integrity, creativity and entrepreneurship. He's the real deal and it's a pleasure to understand how he thinks about real estate, investments and people.

The struggle for the Bill of Rights should be a fascinating history. What ideas drove the men who argued for and against the Bill of Rights? The book claims that much of the disagreement was just about process--e.g., whether we should get a Constitution with a Bill of Rights or first a Constitution and then a Bill of Rights. Oh really? Process may have been an argument, but surely wasn't the foundation of disagreement. Puzzling facts get mentioned, but but never get explored--such as, why was New Jersey so quick to approve the Constitution without a Bill of Rights? The author doesn't pause to consider such questions. A great opportunity missed.
