Liked Billy character and narrator
Revisado: 07-25-24
Nice,fast-paced. I liked the characters although I didn’t like Patti that much. Billy was much more likable. Great narrator, except for his pronunciation of Wabash;)

Historia
Raymond Jaffe feels like he doesn’t belong. Not with his mother’s new family. Not as a weekend guest with his father and his father’s wife. Not at school, where he’s an outcast. After his best friend moves away, Raymond has only two real connections: to the feral cat he’s tamed and to a blind ninety-two-year-old woman in his building who’s introduced herself with a curious question: Have you seen Luis Velez?

Makes you feel good to be a part of the human race
Revisado: 05-09-24
So much of this story is sad and yet there are so many characters that make you appreciate the good in people. Each character seemed so real to me. A lot of books get overly dramatic making the people either all good or all bad so this was refreshing. I will let this settle in for a few days before I start another book so I can savor the experience.

Historia
As the war begins, Hanna Rombauer, a young German woman, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle after her mother’s death. Thrown into a life of luxury she never expected, Hanna soon finds herself unwillingly matched with an SS officer twenty years her senior. The independence that her mother lovingly fostered in her is considered highly inappropriate as the future wife of an up-and-coming officer and she is sent to a “bride school.” There, in a posh villa on the outskirts of town, Hanna is taught how to be a “proper” German wife.

Very good story but wished for more closure
Revisado: 04-24-24
I really enjoyed the story. It was interesting and the narrators did a great job. I felt like I really cared about the characters, but then I wished for more ending. The ending just felt rushed.

This is my third book in the series and I think it’s the best one yet. And that is saying something. When I finished the book I said wow! I hated to see the book end.

Twists and Turns
Revisado: 04-09-24
I’m so glad I read this book. Character development was so good that you really cared about the people. Enough twist, and turns that you didn’t foresee everything which is great. I will think about these characters long after the story ended. That’s a good book in my opinion.

Annoying narrator
Revisado: 04-06-24
The storyline was OK. I wanted to like the characters more than I did. The narrator’s voice was a little too sugary for my liking. I did finish the story, so I gave it three stars. There were no surprises. It was OK but it wasn’t memorable at all for me.

Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Such an agenda
Revisado: 12-11-22
The storytelling was pretty good, but I felt like this book had such an agenda that it was annoying. As far as the performance, I absolutely hated the voice of Lily. I saw this book recommended in a FB group. I need to be more careful of recommendations going forward.
