Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Book...or show?
Revisado: 04-05-24
Jogged a familiar memory from the serialized version on Netflix(?) Obviously there are differences between, and I personally enjoyed the show more! Still a decent read, decent performance and entertaining enough (but not enough for me to continue the remainder of the series)

Historia
In a strange little home built into the branches of a grove of trees, live three robots—fatherly inventor android Giovanni Lawson, a pleasantly sadistic nurse machine, and a small vacuum desperate for love and attention. Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled “HAP,” he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio–a past spent hunting humans. When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe.

Rich and Satisfying

Solid narration of a full story arc and enjoyable characters, with surprising nerd references throughout. Loved it.

Special
Revisado: 07-06-23
Meaningful, special. Needed representation and beautiful simplicity, this would've been even more delightful were it as fully fleshed out as some of Klune's other work.

Worthwhile Overall
Revisado: 06-08-23
Decent story with nice overall pace. Engaging performance but periodic horrible mouth noises (misophpnia folks beware...) and often overbaked/slightly too loud sound effects
