Historia
In the years following her role as the lead author of the international best seller, Limits to Growth - the first book to show the consequences of unchecked growth on a finite planet - Donella Meadows remained a pioneer of environmental and social analysis until her untimely death in 2001. Thinking in Systems is a concise and crucial book offering insight for problem-solving on scales ranging from the personal to the global. Edited by the Sustainability Institute's Diana Wright, this essential primer brings systems thinking out of the realm of computers and equations and into the tangible world....

Good intro but inserts some unnecessary world view
Revisado: 06-06-21
It's a good intro into thinking if systems outside of the mathematical and how to apply it to social and economic applications. The content was very similar to my controls engineering class in college if you stripped out every last bit of math and helped give me another tool to look at issues in the world.
The middle chapters have all the meat. The first chapter reads like an indoctrination or pep rally for the topic and the last chapter gets a little too metaphysical for a book of this type in a way I think is a little misplaced. I don't need to know the author's political or religious views to be able to use the content.
that said it gives you a useful tool to view the world in and does line up with what you would get out of a controls engineering course.

Historia
The Republic poses questions that endure: What is justice? What form of community fosters the best possible life for human beings? What is the nature and destiny of the soul? What form of education provides the best leaders for a good republic? What are the various forms of poetry and the other arts, and which ones should be fostered and which ones should be discouraged? How does knowing differ from believing?

Amazing Narration
Revisado: 07-10-20
I don't think I could have comprehended or remembered nearly as much of this as I did without the incredible Narration. Absolutely cannot say enough good about it, might even say it was a 'virtuous' performance!

Historia
Paradise Lost, along with its companion piece, Paradise Regained, remain the most successful attempts at Greco-Roman style epic poetry in the English language. Remarkably enough, they were written near the end of John Milton's amazing life, a bold testimonial to his mental powers in old age. And, since he had gone completely blind in 1652, 15 years prior to Paradise Lost, he dictated it and all his other works to his daughter.

A work to inspire Christian adoration
Revisado: 10-06-17
This work really challenged my mind as Milton masterfully dictated his interpretation of the events prior to the fall of man. While based upon the portraits of Milton, I would not expect his voice to be equivalent to that of this narrator, the rendering was beautiful and helped transport to realms beyond this world. Ultimately Milton helped to foster a deep longing for a better country not befell by sin as our world is. All who listen to this work will take something away and better understand their own desires.
