as one who has all of the 'old school' magic the gathering novels starting with mtg arena, and who has been searching for a very long time for the audiobook versions, I find this podcast to be a godsend as it covers the beginning of the 'new' series of mtg novels starting with the brother's war.

While I found the narrator to be good, fitting vocals to character well, I also found that the story itself was, to me at least, a mixed bag aimed at two different age group, with the overall story feeling like it was meant for those of the jr high age, yet with content dealing with physics and quantum theory meant for the college age individuals with a better understanding of what was being covered, not counting the 'magical' science aspects of it.

so overall, a fairly decent package.

overall I enjoyed this book, yet I found there was far too much redundancy in restating skill/ability recaps.

I am sure that everyone at some point has had at least one of those 'what the heck did I do to deserve this?' moments.... yet almost guaranteed that non have had more than the hapless adventurer/thief Victor Dalton after a fateful quest to retrieve a family heirloom from a cave had landed Victor face to face with a sleepy yet rapidly angering great red dragon named Vainqueur.
Scrambling to save his skin, Victor inadvertently handed the dragon a secret which no monster should ever have learned, and wound up becoming the lead minion of the world's first adventuring dragon.
needless to say Victor had continually regretted his slip even as he and the dragon went on adventure after adventure, and wound up facing more and more challenges and an incredible evil which threatened two worlds all in the name of protecting and growing Vainqueur's horde.

with excellent narration and a captivating storyline, this book brings to life the story as told by both Vainqueur and Victor's perspectives.
