Perfect resource for learning about REITs

1. REIT Investing 101 is a gem of a book to learn all there is to know about REIT investing. The authors first of all get you up to speed with what REITs are, why they’re a good investing option etc. They then go on to take you through evaluating REIT and what you should be looking into before you invest. This was a particularly good section as they really went into detail about the different metrics as well as looking at a number of other factors that you should be looking into.
The next section was great as it looked at the different types of REITs you can invest in - individual REITs, mutual fund REITs and REIT ETFs. All have their benefits and drawbacks but this was important for me to know as I only thought that you could invest in individual REITs but knowing there are 2 other options which can help to diversify risk is great to know. The authors also went through a step-by-step process of buying your first REIT and finally the not so fun part of taxes!!
Overall, this was a perfect resource for me to get my head round REITs, their complexities and helped me understand how to choose the correct one for me moving forward.
