Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Gripping!

I'm not usually one for crime/heist stories, but I enjoyed this one a lot! It's easy to root for Jas as she peices together what she has to do, why and how.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Very enjoyable!

I really, really enjoyed this book. Will recommend, and will listen again! The narrator was a perfect for the character. The beginning is a bit of a downer, but that's not unusual. The tension is managed excellently throughout this well-written, well-read, ultimately affirming pageturner.

Historia
In Xanth, everyone has a talent. But that doesn't mean everyone loves his talent, and no one understands that better than Hapless. Endowed with the ability to conjure any instrument he wants, Hapless could be an extraordinary musician if only he could play a tune that didn't fall ear-piercingly flat. His one desire is to find an instrument he can play. When the Good Magician hears about Hapless's desperate desire, he sends the young man on a quest to find the elusive Isis Orb, a magical talisman that could fulfill his wish.

I'll be listening again!

This is a beautifully-couched allegory in the form of a fantasy quest. I've been a fan of Xanth for years, but I truly appreciated this volume as a man who struggles with self-confidence. I did think some of Isis' statements re Christianity are a bit overblown (that's quite a lot to conclude from similarity of artistic composition) but not out of line with what one might expect such a being to say. The storytelling is fairly standard Xanth while at the same time challenging Xanth's own conventions. Indeed, some direct comparisons could be made with how "A Spell For Chameleon" upended some common Fantasy tropes. Highly recommended for fans of the series... who of course do not need my opinion ;)

Look beyond the abstract dates and figures, kings and queens, and battles and wars that make up so many historical accounts. Over the course of 48 richly detailed lectures, Professor Garland covers the breadth and depth of human history from the perspective of the so-called ordinary people, from its earliest beginnings through the Middle Ages.
