Excellent Collection of Short Stories!
Revisado: 02-19-20
Before John Flynn became a best-selling author of thrilling detective stories, he wrote short science fiction for the pulp science fiction magazines. This collection of Flynn's short stories is really an outstanding one, and is newly released as both an audio book and a print collection of his best stories. The stories are not all science fiction. There's a horror story about Spring Breakers being stalked by a female vampire; there's a mystery/detective tale written like the Sherlock Holmes stories, with the world's greatest detective facing his most difficult whodunit; there's even a fantasy tale in which time seems to repeat its great biblical prophecy. The others are speculative fiction at its best. My favorite was "Interfacing Rush" because it's a cyberpunk tale with a lot of heart as two homeless vets take on a multimillionaire like Trump or Bloomberg who cares nothing for people. The clover solution to the story turns the tables in what may have been a great O'Henry tale a century ago. You'll love meeting Rupert, Robby the Robot's literary descendant, and a time traveler who arrives a bit too soon to trade his latest purchase at the Sears of the future. Flynn's Hugo-nominated tale is also here, in its original form. A great short story, and in any form, one of the great short stories of the last 100 years. Listen to these works on this great audio book and you'll have a great time!

Historia
When Inspector Kate Dawson, a homicide detective from the San Francisco Police Department, is called in the wee hours of the morning, little did she know what would be waiting for her on the tarmac of San Francisco International Airport. Air Force One has landed with a corpse in the lavatory; the victim is a beautiful Fox News reporter, known as the "fair and balanced" girl. Apparently, she enjoyed kinky foreplay, like having her oxygen supply limited, a gasper, but it just went too far...or did someone else take advantage and finish her off?

Great Audio Book! Great Narration!
Revisado: 02-19-20
This is my FAVORITE audio book, and my FAVORITE work of Author John Flynn! The storyline is very compelling: A female reporter on board Air Force One is murdered in the first few moments of the novel, and Kate Dawson is called to investigate the murder. Kate Dawson is one of the most remarkable characters in thriller literature today. She started out as a rookie in her first book, Intimate Bondage, and now, three books in, she has come to represent the best Female Character in detective fiction today! Not only does she have to battle a partner who hates her, but also battle the White House staff that does not want her to get to the bottom of the unfolding mystery. This could have been ripped from today's headlines. Flynn delivers a suspense-filled mystery as Kate attempts to put things backs together again. I would highly recommend this book to all! Now, I'd like to say something about the two idiots who posted on here. If you didn't care for Kevin Chambers' narration, you should have swapped this book for another book. No one forced you to keep listening. These two idiots who wrote these reviews didn't swap books because this was some kind of hit job on Kevin Chambers; if they truly had a problem, it costs them nothing to swap books. SO THAT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE your comments about Kevin Chambers is nothing more than a shameless hit. SHAME on both of you! The narration in this book is excellent, and Kevin Chambers does a better job than anyone else! Some day, if you're really lucky, you'll produce something. Think about how you're going to feel when people gang up on you and say how terrible it is. You idiots don't belong on here, nor do your hit pieces! This is a great audio book with great narration from Kevin Chambers.

The charismatic leader of End Times Ministries, whose grand plan includes stoking the fires of Armageddon, has ordered parishioners to close ranks and prepare for a holy war. Not a Single Agatha Christie Cliche in Sight!
Revisado: 12-13-19
Architects of Armageddon is one of the BEST mystery-thrillers I've read this year. It has action, romance, adventure on a grand scale, social commentary, engaging characters, remarkable suspense, a masterly-developed plot, great writing, and not a single Agatha Christie or Ian Fleming cliché in sight. Author Flynn, please take a bow. I just have one question: when does the movie version come out? Save a seat for me in the first row! Buy this audio book!

Extraordinary Story! Incredible Characters!
Revisado: 11-25-19
I have listened to this audio book twice now, once for my book group and the second time with my girlfriend on a trip. The story is simply extraordinary, with an incredible array of characters led by a very real Kate Dawson. If you want to take a thrill ride with a top-notch mystery-thriller, then this is the book for you. I loved it, and I continue to recommend it to other readers who want to listen to a well-written and highly-original plot.

Historia
Life on the planet Jupiter? Former Senator Mitchell Ryan had always been told the violent, storm-tossed world was devoid of life. He had dismissed rumors of a strange life form living in the energy rich atmosphere as mere fantasy. Confronted with several mysterious deaths, sabotage, and similar acts of terrorism - possibly perpetrated by wealthy politicians who profit from the current crisis of fear - Ryan faces a dilemma that will change his life and determine the fate of the solar system forever.

Great Entertainment for a Long Drive!
Revisado: 11-12-19
Recently, I listened to The Jovian Dilemma on a long drive, and I had the best time of my life! Other reviewers have talked about climate change, speculative thoughts about the future, first contact, and other lofts ideals of author Flynn. They're all important, and what make this novel a cut above the rest. I just wanted to add my two-cents worth, and say that this is a really fun book. I love science fiction, but I hate sci-fi that is derivative of the latest movie trends. For a while there, every other book was just a clone of Aliens, with members of the Space Force fighting wars with aliens; then, there were the superhero knock-offs, with nearly every book about some ordinary guy becoming a superhero; then, there were the time travel stories that re-imagined great events in time. The Jovian Dilemma was a fun, very original story about making contact. Lots of great gadgets and gizmos, civil war in the solar system, political intrigue, romance, and of course aliens who are stranger than we can imagine. I felt like I was right in the middle of a great adventure. So cool! So Enjoyable! While the story is totally original, it did remind me of some of the great books I read as a youth, like Rendezvous with Rama and Stranger in a Strange Land. Those were fun books. So is this one! Wanna kick back and enjoy a great adventure, Cozy on up to The Jovian Dilemma. Fun story for a long drive.

Someone has a fetish for murder. Detective Kate Dawson is willing to go undercover to catch a serial killer. But this time, undercover may be exactly what the killer wants. Two very rich and powerful men in San Francisco have been murdered by a mysterious woman, nicknamed “The Angel of Death” by the press. Stephen Collins is targeted as the third victim. Naked, Collins welcomes a red-headed woman, dressed as a dominatrix, into his Pacific Heights home, and together they engage in sadomasochistic play.

Cool, Modern Detective Story!
Revisado: 10-07-19
I don't normally write reviews, but after having listened to this audio book on a recent trip I have nothing but praise for it. My wife and I went to visit inlaws in St. Louis. We started the book just outside Chicago. We were spellbound for our entire trip. Great story. Interesting characters. A cool, modern detective story. Thanks Audible!
