Historia
When does enlightenment come? At the end of the spiritual journey? Or the beginning? In After the Ecstasy, the Laundry, Jack Kornfield brings into focus the truth about satori, the awakened state of consciousness, and enlightenment practices today. The result is this extraordinary look at the hard work we all must do - the laundry - no matter how often we experience ecstatic states of consciousness through meditation and other disciplines.

Good content lost in a flat rambling monotone presentation.
The print version is almost certainly the better way to experience this.

Historia
In May 2005, Eugene O'Kelly was diagnosed with late-stage brain cancer and given three to six months to live. Just like that. Now a growing darkness was absorbing the bright future he had seen for himself. He would have to change his plans, quickly, and capture what he could of his last diminishing days. Chasing Daylight is the account of his final journey. Starting from the time of his diagnosis and concluded upon his death less than four months later, this book is his unforgettable story.

A Beautifully sad and inspiring story.
Revisado: 09-14-23
I loved it! I was engaged from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. Gene O’Kelly’s story is a sad and incredibly inspiring story, and I am not sure how anyone could read this and not find themselves looking at their own lives and personal relationships through a whole new light.

Historia
In 1995, Jean-Dominique Bauby was the editor-in-chief of French Elle, the father of two young childen, a 44-year-old man known and loved for his wit, his style, and his impassioned approach to life. By the end of the year he was also the victim of a rare kind of stroke to the brainstem. After 20 days in a coma, Bauby awoke into a body which had all but stopped working: only his left eye functioned, allowing him to see and, by blinking it, to make clear that his mind was unimpaired.

The prose is beautiful and compelling. The story is powerful and the narration is excellent. It had me laughing one minute and crying the next.

Historia
Using fossil gene redemption (FGR), geneticist Kevin G. Harrigan experiments with genes from a frozen "ice man". His work prompts Iraqi leader Ismail Mon to provide resources for exciting new research that enables Harrigan's team to regenerate extinct "cryptids" and human subspecies from the Ice Ages. But FGR can be the basis for genetic weapons of mass destruction; United States intelligence and defense leaders must act! Ancient of Genes shows new megafauna regeneration methods by which the only prophecy held in common among major religions and myth traditions could manifest.

Thought provoking, Immersive audio experience.
Revisado: 12-08-22
This isn't a genre that I read a lot of, so I didn't know what to expect when I started but was pulled in right from the start. The audio version is a complete theatrical performance with multiple voices, sound effects, and music. A completely immersive experience. Gallagher’s book is extremely well-researched which brings a degree of realism to the story. I found myself wondering if this could really happen, a frightful thought once you discover where the story is going. Loaded with action and more than a few unforeseen twists, Gallagher keeps you in the story right from the beginning.
