Historia
At age 36, while serving on a jury, author Molly Wizenberg found herself drawn to a female attorney she hardly knew. Married to a man for nearly a decade and mother to a toddler, Wizenberg tried to return to her life as she knew it, but something inside her had changed irredeemably. Instead, she would discover that the trajectory of our lives is rarely as smooth or as logical as we'd like to believe.

Wonderful story and great narration!
Revisado: 08-27-21
I know some people were out off by the narrator, but I thought it was wonderful. For whatever reason, Molly didn’t narrate this book, but this narrator was the next best I thought. If you listen to Molly’s Spilled Milk podcast, you will find that this narrator really captures Molly’s voice. This story is heartfelt just like her other books, but takes it to a more personal level. Loved it. Thank you sharing this journey with us. ❤️🌈

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author and blogger Heather B. Armstrong comes an honest and irreverent memoir - reminiscent of the New York Times best-seller Brain on Fire - about her experience as one of only a few people to participate in an experimental treatment for depression involving 10 rounds of a chemically induced coma approximating brain death.

Poignant and hopeful
Revisado: 04-26-19
I love this book. Hearing Heather read it was icing on the cake. This book has resonated with me and has helped me better understand myself (in some ways) as well as others. It is as heartbreaking as it is hopeful. I think it is a must-read for anyone who is suffering from mental illness or has a loved one who suffers.
I was also fascinated by some of the technical aspects of her procedures and found the afterward to be helpful as well. I highly recommend this book! Thank you for writing it, Heather.

What a trainwreck
Revisado: 10-05-18
I can't get over the chapter about her meeting and falling in love with her husband.
Rachel declares herself a relationship expert of sorts (see her blog). And she goes on in detail about her first relationship/boyfriend whom she met at work when she had just moved out on her own. She didn't know who she was and she let an older man take advantage of her. She was a booty call. She says so herself. This went on for a year. When he broke up with her she was devastated. He called her the next day and she finally stood up for herself and asked him not to ever contact her again. Then he magically does a 180 and she wakes up the next morning to him banging on her door and begging her to give him another chance. The whole relationship story borders on emotional abuse. She finally reveals at the end of the chapter that this man is her husband. The one she can't imagine her life without and who she loves dearly and is her best friend. But in the next breath she states she should have had more friends at the time, a better support network, and she should have had a sounding board. But if she did would she still be with her husband who she's so grateful for and shares children with? She also goes on to say that any reader finds herself in the midst of a booty call relationship should get out right away and not kid themselves by expecting it to end well. She says him banging on her door felt romantic and special because it is. Barf! It's abusive and disrespectful.
The whole thing is disgusting and the hypocrisy in what she says is astounding. She really doesn't know much of anything about relationships to be giving advice to anyone. Please don't read this book.
