Some what disappointed.

I was really really excited for the series. But this book was just OK for me. I didn’t hate it. I didn’t love it. I do like the characters. Some of the things I did not like about it was it was absolutely too obscure.

I’m OK with Easter eggs being dropped and having to figure things out later but it was a little too much on the side of what the hell is going on.

Also the romance was too much of a slow burn for me.

It didn’t feel like a paranormal romance. It felt like a romance with a tiny bit of paranormal thrown in at the very end.

With the way the book ended I am curious for the next one but I have to say it didn’t feel very much like a JR book and I love everything that she writes normally. I’m not saying I won’t continue on but it was a meh for me.

The most interesting part about the book was the BDB references. And that says a lot in my opinion.

Xhex and JM are one of my favorite BDB couples so I liked seeing them and I do like that the series are crossing over but like I said it was a little bit too obscure.

GREAT book!

I really liked this book, and it was a great book 2 to a great series! I was disappointed that there aren't more books, but it didn't take away from the story. I really liked Bran, and I adored Maddie. The book had all I require in a great read, funny, action and steam! I wish there were more!

I did really like the narrator, too!

AWESOME book!

It had been a while since I ventured into this series, and oh, how I missed it! I ADORED this story, and I've always wondered about the mysterious Striker, so I was excited about this story. It certainly didn't disappoint. This was a fabulous book and I can't wait to check out the next one!

Antony was a new narrator for me, and I wasn't sure about his voice at first, but I really liked his voice, and his accents. I can't wait to hear the next story! The one crit I have is that Eoin is supposed to be pronounced "Owen" and Antony called him Iain for the whole book, so that was a tad icky, but I got used to it.

SO awesome!

I waited for this book so long. I have always ADORED Xcor and Layla, so it was great to FINALLY get their story. So fabulous. Every time one of these books comes out, it sucks me right back into this world, and it's so awesome. I’ve wanted Layla to have an HEA since we met her way back in book 1 or two and it was an awesome read. I’ve also loved Xcor at first word and so this book was so exciting for me. I was worried about how it’d been done but the WarDen didn’t disappoint. It was so awesome and one of my faves in the series. I cannot wait for the next one.

I love how Jim reads these books!

LOVE THIS BOOK!

I reallllllly loved this book, and I am super excited about the new series! I can't wait to check out each and every book as they come. This is so great cuz the heroine isn't drop dead gorgeous, and it makes it have a great appeal to "real life:"

So I don't love dual narration. I prefer duet, and if IS dual, I honestly would prefer just one narrator. That being said, I did love the male voice, and I liked the girl, and they did a great job on the book. I really wished it was duet instead of dual, but I will listen to the rest of the series, since I adore Avery's books.

Great first book in a new series!

Anything JR writes, I will listen to/read. So this book was no exception, although I was uber disappointed Jim Frangione (who usually does all her books) wasn't the MAIN narrator for this book. It does have 4 narrators, so I assume the new series will all have more than 1, and in this case 3 males (including Jim) and a female, two of which read the accompanying novella. As in the previous book, I didn't like the female, and that didn't change. I don't feel like the voice fit the character, and was too nasally. Kinda annoying. The 3 males, I did like even tho the one who did the main character (Danny) took some getting used to for the character. I did like him better right off the bat than I had in the novella. I liked the 4th voice alot (Rizzo's character) but wished he was in it more, and I feel the same way about Jim. That being said, of course I will listen to the next one when it comes out.

Great little listen!

So this book has two narrators, which is different for a JR book, and I didn't feel like EITHER the male voice or the female voice actually fit the characters, although the male voice grew on me. The female voice never did. I didn't like her voice at all, and especially when she was so nasally most of the time.

The story was great, and it made me look forward to the accompanying novel.
