Historia
Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

This is one of those rare reads that out perform the expectations set by the summary and good reviews. It really is a whole mood. "Melancholy" is the best way I can describe this ghost story. Adventurous Melancholy.

Historia
Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she’s been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she’s received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer. He’s a man who can get you anything you want … at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one client, he’s never asked for repayment. Not until now.

Revisado: 02-23-24
The mystery that should've been the core story, really was barely a side quest. The constant droning on about the Bargainer and Callie's dynamic was repetitive at best. I felt like too much of the book was filler. it had so much potential, and a great thriller mystery happening at moment. But it felt like one giant tease. I still don't understand what happened at the end. but not because it was complex. More because it was barely touched on. I can handle spicy storyline, but this just seemed too 1 dimensional. Plus, the flashbacks were practically pointless. We could've gotten the gist of their relationship backstory out of a fraction of those moments. The summary was honestly more enthralling since it focused in on the dark mystery happening in the Otherworld. I'll listen to the second book, hoping that she got that out of her system and is ready to focus on the potentially interesting thriller-storyline. But I'm not too hopeful. also, I'm always amazed at how backwards these review sections are. absolutely amazing books are bashed. While basic, surface-deep books are praised relentlessly.

Life was simpler when someone was around to tell him what to do. With a band of Adventurers looking to him for direction, whether he likes it or not, Trent Embra needed to figure out how to lead them.

absolutely loved the shit out of this series
Revisado: 11-07-23
literally dying fourth not book. I think this series stands out in a genre that is so flooded. I am in withdrawal and am struggling to get into another book while I wait for the 5th book of The Infinite World. So good!! Ignore the negative reviews, there are always so many crap reviews on here that do so many good books a disservice and yet prop up the crappy ones. I'm a book snob, and still fell head over heels for this series. I Love Trent

idk why the reviews are so negative
Revisado: 11-07-23
I actually loved this book. didn't xpect to. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews beforehand. I actually tell myself not to read reviews anymore because they deterred me from so many books that I later found enjoyable. A wonderful Southern Gothic read.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Not for the faint of heart-
Revisado: 06-30-23
the negative reviews I saw after purchasing almost deterred me. I'm glad I decided to go in with open mind. First, this is such a unique telling of a flooded genre. The detailed history she sets us up with is what piqued my interest, The core plot is what cemented it for me. and I have to say, initially I wasn't sure about the narrator. but it dint take long for me to fall in love with her telling. I forgot often that it was the same person doing all the different voices. summary: definitely not for beginner readers.
