Historia
Populist rage, ideological fracture, economic and technological shocks, geopolitical dangers, and an international system studded with catastrophic risk—the early decades of the 21st century may be one of the most revolutionary periods in modern history. But they are not the first. Humans have lived, and thrived, through more than one great realignment. What makes an age a revolutionary one? And how do they end?

Historia
Never having run for office before, Katie Porter charted a new path in 2018 when she was elected to Congress as a Democrat in historically conservative Orange County, California. Underestimated as a single mom and chided for her progressive values, Katie defied expectations. Then, using her signature whiteboard, she began to take CEOs and corrupt government officials to task in Congressional hearings. The videos went viral, introducing Americans to her no-bullshit style, and making her a coveted guest on cable news and late-night television.

Revisado: 04-16-23
We’re so happy to have Katie as our congress Representative and now that we know the full story we’d love to see her as our Senator. Please read Katie’s story. It’s a story of grit, courage and ambition! Do not miss this opportunity to get to know Katie better and I believe you’ll be impressed with her story and how she balances life’s challenges as a Mom of three kids and commuting to Washington to lookout for our interests . Thank you Katie.

Historia
The story of the Highland clans of Scotland is famous, the names celebrated, and the deeds heroic. Having clung to ancient traditions of family, loyalty, and valor for centuries, the clans met the beginning of their end at the fateful Battle of Culloden in 1746. Alistair Moffat traces the history of the clans from their Celtic origins to the coming of the Romans; from Somerled the Viking to Robert the Bruce; from the great battles of Bannockburn and Flodden to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite Risings; and from the Clearances to the present day.

I have read a couple of different authors on the Civil War but this book fills in a lot of information on the soldiers and politicians who were directly involved, but also merchants and industrialists who made huge profits during and after the war. The information and narration was well presented.

As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

Bono’s narration with that soft Dublin accent along with the appropriate music clips makes this a story that is difficult to put aside for a moment. U2 are away more than a band that delivers tremendous shows and charity events. This story is a must if you like song, story and entertainment! Thank you Bono.

The subject content was expanded away beyond the title and the narration, while pleasant to listen to was completely unfamiliar with the correct pronunciation of names and places. Little mention was made of the cruelty of the Black and Tan campaign. Disappointing!

Historia
Every Day Is Extra is Kerry’s passionate, insightful, sometimes funny, always moving account of his life. Kerry tells wonderful stories about colleagues Ted Kennedy and John McCain, as well as President Obama and other major figures. He writes movingly of recovering his faith while in the Senate, and deplores the hyper-partisanship that has infected Washington. Few books convey as convincingly as this one the life of public service like that which John Kerry has lived for 50 years.

A beautiful story of an American Patriot!
Revisado: 09-11-18
I loved this account of an American hero who spent his life in service to his state and country. He did his duty in the war and against it when he experienced the mistake that crazy war was. His account of his time in the Senate and his interactions with his colleagues was enlightening. Best of all, was his service as Secretary of State in the Obama administration and the major accomplishments on climate change, trade deals and nuclear containment with Iran, sadly now in jeopardy with with a change of administration. I like when the author is the narrator because the emotion is there in joy, sorrow and love. A wonderful story, well told!
