Historia
Elvis Duran’s nationally syndicated radio program, Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, is America’s most listened-to Top 40 morning show and one of the 10 most listened-to programs in all of radio, heard live by nearly 10 million people every morning. But his success didn’t happen overnight. Elvis spent years navigating the wild world of radio as a DJ for hire, working (and partying) in markets around the country before taking over the morning shift at the legendary Z100 in 1996. Over the last 20 years, he has become one of New York City’s signature voices.

It's pretty predictable, but entertaining all the same. If you love Elvis' voice and humor, you'll enjoy it.

Some interesting theories, but a bit too long
Revisado: 01-13-19
I found the first few chapters (optimal stopping, the Secretary Problem) to be the most fascinating. A lot of the second half of the book got into the math and detail of the idea to too great of an extent for me. The author's voice is very monotonous, which was good for me because I was listening to relax and sleep...I would not listen to it while working out!

In Why Not Me?, Kaling shares insightful, deeply personal stories about falling in love at work, seeking new friendships in lonely places, attempting to be the first person in history to lose weight without any behavior modification whatsoever, and believing that you have a place in Hollywood when you’re constantly reminded that no one looks like you.

A few interesting stories, but a bit flat overall
Revisado: 02-04-16
What did you like best about Why Not Me?? What did you like least?
Mindy is the right mix of self-deprecating and confident and seems to show a very honest version of herself.
What I liked least was that many of her stories were predictable and did not lead to me feeling like I knew the author that much more than what her professional persona already dictates.
Would you recommend Why Not Me? to your friends? Why or why not?
I would probably say pass on it, there are lots of other comedians who have written autobiographical musings that are more insightful.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
The email exchanges between her, "SC" and her friend Lindsey are pretty amusing!
Was Why Not Me? worth the listening time?
I listened on a long drive, so it was worth it under that circumstance.

Historia
In Dad is Fat, stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, who’s best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald's, expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children - everything from cousins ("celebrities for little kids") to toddlers’ communication skills ("they always sound like they have traveled by horseback for hours to deliver important news"), to the eating habits of four-year-olds ("there is no difference between a four-year-old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor").

If you like Jim Gaffigan, you'll like this book
Revisado: 02-04-16
If you could sum up Dad Is Fat in three words, what would they be?
Heartfelt. Funny. Family
What about Jim Gaffigan’s performance did you like?
He stays true to his standup style (including using jokes I've heard him do on tour) while bringing you into his family life in an intimate way. There's an unabashed honesty to the book (although excessively placating to his wife...who helped him write it!)
What did you learn from Dad Is Fat that you would use in your daily life?
Don't judge or assume that you know other people's lives or can make their best choices for them. Children are true gifts that bring complication and headaches, but also a unique love.
Any additional comments?
If you listen to it at 1.25 speed, you'll get through it that much faster while not taking anything away from the tone of the story.
