Historia
In the wake of the Galactic Republic's fall, Magnus and the Gladio Umbra learn of a new superpower that hopes to unite all orphaned star systems in peace. But Magnus's suspicions grow as the Luma Alliance of Worlds uses anything but peaceful methods to co-opt allegiance in the post-Republic landscape. Meanwhile, on the fringe of the galaxy, a dark shadow looms. Moldark, the sworn enemy of a growing number of species, amasses power through a new partnership with the Obscura. With their combined forces, there is no telling what evil may rain down upon the galaxy's sentient worlds.

Fan-freaking-tastic!!
Revisado: 09-23-23
Just when you thought this series couldn’t ramp up the throttle anymore- Boom! Blown away by the rich story telling action and adventure. There’s still many questions to be answered and connections I can almost see falling into place, but this one certainly threw in some killer curveballs I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see where the final installment takes the characters to in the end.

However, Arbornides is no ordinary planet. Its design was meant to expel invaders, and the Deadmen fight tooth and nail to keep themselves and their science teams alive. Along the way, they must also lead a brand-new platoon of Sentinel operators, who will prove crucial in the days to come.

Another classic Robinson Triumph!!!! Excellent exploration of human nature, possible ramifications of the struggle against climate change and the potential perils presented by GMOs when used unwisely.

He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Absolutely blown away!
Revisado: 04-24-22
I’m read all the books published by this author (including other pseudonyms) and even though this has been building great anticipation over the last few years- this book exceeded all expectations! I can’t wait to see the back story of the other adversarial group (Khoas) and then how he ties everything together in the ultimate crossover of the Infinity Timeline (Singularity)!!
I consume a *great* deal of books in the many genres this author has explored and I have rarely seen such a fine example of magnificently written stories in such well developed universes presented with the skill to weave all the characters together in more and more intricate plot lines.
I particularly love it when authors can crossover characters and settings to bring together such a rich tapestry of storytelling. The allusions are done well enough that you can fully enjoy the current story, even if you’re not familiar to the other material referred to, but if you’re a die hard fan that want to that wants to peel back the hints and find the material alluded to, you can then experience the full multilevel backstories to so many facets only briefly mentioned here.
And, as an extra super bonus, the playlists the author has made available to listen to specific songs referenced in the text as you come to them make for the addition of a whole new dimension to audiobook listening experience. As some of these songs can be rare and specific, easy access to the specific versions mentioned do you can listen to them when they are referenced made for a much more immersive and emotional way to experience this story.

Enjoyable variation on the theme
Revisado: 09-27-15
Would you listen to Rain again? Why?
Yes. I have several post apocalyptic/ zombie attack series in my audio book collection. This was a well done variation on the theme: not overly predictable but not too far fetched. I like the addition of considering the "psychology" of the virus as a way of forming an understanding of the behavior of the infected victims.
Which character – as performed by Brian Grey – was your favorite?
The narrator character, Alex. Enough real emotions and enough real limitations and practically applied science/ sci-if knowledge.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I basically did listen to this in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
I really wish the other 2 books in the series were also available as audiobooks. I could get the ebooks, but I go through audiobooks much faster.
