Historia
The Joker is dead, but not forgotten. Gotham City is saved, but it is still not safe. By night, its new symbol of hope, Batman, continues his fight to protect the innocent and the powerless. By day, his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, wonders whether there may someday be a future beyond skulking the city’s rooftops or the cavernous halls of his stately manor alongside the ever-dutiful Alfred Pennyworth. But even after death, the Clown Prince of Crime’s imprint can be seen in more than just the pavement.

enjoyable read
Revisado: 12-28-24
not only was it nice to revisit the characters for Batman and Batman Returns, but I really liked what they did with the other characters they introduced from Batman's Rogues gallery.

makes the prequels better and make more sense
Revisado: 12-13-22
should be required reading before watching the prequels. It more than reveals Darth Plagueis, it gives the history of Palpatine, Maul, the plan for Naboo, the creation of the Clone Army, how Padme became queen and so much more.

Who is the ultimate enemy they must all unite to defeat?

depends on the listener
Revisado: 10-25-21
you will either like it or hate it depending on how you feel about having no likable characters (except a few sentences of a girl with a deadbeat dad), the stripbar/drunk/foul mouth side of the city, and being depressed and pessimistic on Christmas.

In 1978, Laurie Strode survived an encounter with Michael Myers, a masked figure who killed her friends and terrorized the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, on Halloween night. Myers was later gunned down, apprehended, and committed to Smith's Grove State Hospital. For forty years, memories of that nightmarish ordeal have haunted Laurie and now Myers is back once again on Halloween, having escaped a routine transfer, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

I am not a fan of Slasher flicks
Revisado: 10-16-21
I grew up in the 80's but had no interest in Halloween, Friday the 13th etc. however, this story is so much more than just a series of pointless murders. It spends a lot of time actually talking about trauma and what it does to people.

Historia
First came the man: a young wanderer in a fatigue coat and long hair. Then came the legend, as John Rambo sprang from the pages of FIRST BLOOD to take his place in the American cultural landscape. This remarkable novel pits a young Vietnam veteran against a small-town cop who doesn't know whom he's dealing with - or how far Rambo will take him into a life-and-death struggle through the woods, hills, and caves of rural Kentucky.

wow!
Revisado: 09-06-21
The book does an amazing job of putting you into the heads and emotions of the two leads. It is not just a simple shoot em up, but complex melodrama. If I had had the time, I would have listened to it straight through.

Great Narators for Great Stories
Revisado: 09-03-21
The only reason I didn't give the story higher is because I just really can't get into The First Men in the Moon. I couldn't get through that one fast enough. War of the Worlds and the Invisible Man more than made up for it though.

Historia
Follow the journey of Horace Holly and his ward, Leo Vincey, to a lost kingdom in the African interior. There they encounter a primitive race of natives and a mysterious white queen named Ayesha who reigns as the all-powerful "She", or "She-who-must-be-obeyed". In this work, Rider Haggard developed the conventions of the Lost World subgenre, which many later authors emulated.

dated classic & some mind boggling misprounciation
Revisado: 08-18-21
You have to go in expecting some Eugenic white European colonizing bias given the time period and audience of the piece. Sadly, that is just the product of the time and place. HOWEVER, what I can't understand is how in this MODERN RECORDING no one either noticed or cared to inform the narrator how to pronounce the name Job. You know, like the book in the Bible. For hours, you get to hear him call the character job, like going to work. This probably could be ignored, but you get hours of this. So distracting.
